PETER AND THE VAMPIRES (Volume One)

The idea for Peter And The Vampires came, strangely enough, from James Joyce's short story "The Dead."

You wouldn't think a kid's horror story would come from a hoity-toity literature classic...but hear me out.

(Spoiler alert for "The Dead"!)

The end of Joyce's story tells how a young woman lost her one true love because he came to her window in a rainstorm, caught pneumonia, and died. Romantic and tragic, right?

But I always thought, "Yeah, well, it's romantic if you LIKE the person...but if they were a stalker, that would be about the creepiest thing imaginable: to look out your window in a storm and see someone standing out there, staring up at your window."

BAM.

I already wanted to write a series of horror stories...and I had settled on a protagonist (basically an altered version of myself at ten years old).

Now I had my first creepy scene: the hero peers out his window during a raging thunderstorm and sees a girl he doesn't like staring up at his window, softly calling out his name: "Peeeeeeeeteeeeeeeeeer..."

Then he finds out something REALLY disturbing.

Thanks, James Joyce.

PETER AND THE VAMPIRES (Volume One) is currently free for the Kindle.

Getting Even: Operation F*ck

When a young wife comes home to find her husband having sex with her sister-in-law, she's appalled. When she finds out that her sister-in-law is only one of the many, many women her husband has been cheating on her with, she's livid.

But, as she travels to her hometown of St. Louis, to spend the holidays with her parents, she decides that instead of staying mad, she's going to get even.

That's when Operation F*ck is born.

Soon, she's having the time of her life, as she invites one man after another to help her live out all of her sexual fantasies. Imagine her surprise however, when she's in the middle of man heaven and she unexpectedly finds love--in the arms of a woman.

This novella is a wild, sexy and frequently humorous romp through revenge sex, fantasy sex and polyamorous love. It is not for the prudish or easily offended.

WARNING: This novella is for adults only and contains a number of explicit sexual passages.

Z14

Hi, I'm Jim Chaseley - debut author, inveterate worrier, occasional bumbling numpty, father, husband and peddler of a pretty darn good science fiction novel called.

Z14 is a cyborg. Z14 is a book about that cyborg, and, as one reviewer put it, "Don't expect subtlety." If you've ever wanted to see a cyborg with one foot riding an antique bicycle, whilst chatting to a severed head, then this is the book for you.

Exploding lizards, cyborgs with a penchant for very literal self-destruction - even a character called "Kaboom". Yes, this is a book where stuff blows up. But, it's mostly a book about strong, fun, sometimes daft characters, and equally odd, but deadly serious alien plots. Can Z14 save humanity? Does he want to?

Z14 is offbeat science fiction, and a rip-roaring blast of a read, best enjoyed in just a few, fevered reading sessions. It will extract the odd chuckle from you, even if those chuckles sometimes come with a grimace... "He did what?"

Killing to Know

Killing to know was my first attempt at doing National Write a Novel Month, and as such I flew without a real outline net, so the twits and turns come flying at the reader fast and without warning.

Calvin Hobbs is a retired detective who has gone into the privet eye business. Tonight he has been hired to get a copy of a late mob bosses will from the apartment of a seedy lawyer.  What Hobbs doesn't know is that this job will quickly spirals out of control leading him into a web of deceit, false friends and femme fatals, all who are killing to know what is contained in the last will a testament of Richmond's most notorious crime boss.

Killing to Know is a hard-boiled thriller that goes right for the jugular, a short gripping gritty, violate and profane mystery that both harkens back to the old detective pulps and retained a wholly modern feel.

The Ten (Book 1 of the Kingdom of Graves)

Leland Myrick is the author and/or illustrator of numerous graphic novels and comic books, including the New York Times #1 bestseller FEYNMAN. The Ten is his first work of prose fiction. It is the first book in an epic fantasy trilogy and tells the tales of the intertwined lives of a spy and a soldier serving the largest kingdom in the know world, the Kingdom of Graves. Book two, The Klau, will be out in the summer of 2012.

Book Description and Reviews:
From New York Times #1 bestselling creator Leland Myrick, comes the first novel in a new fantasy series, The Kingdom of Graves. A thrilling tale of swords and sorcery, The Ten takes its readers on a wild ride filled with adventure, intrigue, heroism and dark magic. This saga of soldiers and spies crosses the vast Kingdom of Graves as small cult uprisings threaten to spill out into a war that threatens the Kingdom's foundations and existence. Sword and magic clash in bloody battles, spies slip through the darkness to dispatch their targets with a silent knife, all in a struggle over control of the most powerful kingdom in the world.

About Myrick's earlier works, the critics have said:
"A tour de force. . . . This is the best kind of story for presentation in graphic novel form as the words and pictures work in concert to produce as a whole something more than either can do separately." - Shelf Awareness Pro Starred Review

"These images capture with remarkable sensitivity the essence of Feynman's character. The comic-book picture somehow comes to life and speaks with the voice of the real Feynman...The Ottaviani-Myrick book is the best example of this genre that I have yet seen." - Freeman Dyson, The New York Review of Books "

...an affectionate and inspiring comic biography of the legendary iconoclastic physicist Richard Feynman...Like all great biography, Feynman is an enticement to read more of his works...I'll be shoving Feynman at everyone I can get to read it." - Cory Doctorow, Boing Boing

"Spectacular." - The Horn Book, starred review

"Terrific." - Austin Chronicle

"A biography presented in graphic-novel form, told in the first person—an unusual treatment that's spectacularly successful." - Horn Book Best Books of 2011 "Colorful, vivid, and obsessive, the pages of Feynman exude the famous personality of the man himself, full of immense brilliance, genuine excitement for science, and a healthy dose of snark." - The Atlantic

Two Halves

Marta Szemik is an author and a writer. As a mom of two and a wife she enjoys using her family's attributes in her writing - just because they are unique:) A great skier (in her kids eyes), she loves the outdoors. Very often she can be found creating new worlds in front of her computer. Her favourite pass-time is sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee. Powerful writing with colourful characters who make you cry, laugh and wish they were real intrigue her. She has a sarcastic sense of humour and those close to her know that she can make a joke out of almost anything, but she could never do stand up comedy. Her favourite words are "seriously" and "pooped" (not in her writing!).

Two Halves is Marta's debut novel published in November 2011. This young adult urban fantasy explores the world of two half-breed vampires as they learn their destiny to stop the extinction of humans and vampires.

Twenty-one-year-old Sarah is a child of a human mother and a vampire father and has suppressed her dark side with serums. The only memory of her mother is when Sarah killed her, soon after birth. Of her father, nothing-just a hatred for his vampire traits that made her kill her own mother.

When a disturbing nightmare foretelling her bleak future stirs the superhuman traits, underworld creatures are beaconed. On the run with William, a man she knows from her dreams, Sarah tries to learn what's been , for a good reason. Had she known her destiny, she may have continued with the serums that kept her hidden.

Quickies!: Semester One Collection

The Quickies! series -- the first four short stories compiled into the Semester One Collection -- is something I wrote because I wanted to explore different things. I'd written some fantasy, some sci-fi, and now I wanted to write something a little more... frisky. I've got needs too, you know, so I only write stories that I myself want to read.

Since I went to college, I decided to write about college kids and all the crazy stuff they got up to. Some of this is real, some of this is exaggerated, some happened to me and some happened to people I knew -- and some is pulled straight from my imagination... or how I wished things went down. Names, places, all changed to protect the innocent and the guilty alike.

That's pretty much it. The first Semester anthology is four stories, all in one, with slowly increasing amounts of kinkiness with a more gentle finish. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

Welcome to JFK College... where the unofficial motto is, "Everyone gets laid."

This short story collection is the first semester of college for three new students and how they fit into their rather uniquely raunchy tertiary education.

It contains four short stories:

"Good Vibrations" - M/F, straight, first time.
"Frailty, Part I" - M/F, stripping, tease.
"Frailty, Part II" - M/F, M/M/F, M/M/F/F, group sex, gangbang, orgy, seconds
"All's Fair..." - F solo, M/F, oral, voyeurism, masturbation

Love In The Wrong Dimension

Love In The Wrong Dimension is a modern romantic ghost story.

The heroine of the story is Jemma. We follow her journey from an active life with her friends in London into the 11th dimension, a mysterious place for lost souls. There she meets the ghosts of Tom , a young girl, and a woman waiting for her husband to join her. Her final destiny is in front of her, and the final twist will tug at your heartstrings.

The story is romantic, funny and very moving. A love story, a ghost story, a story you won't be able to put down.

Book Description

"It was a lovely read, very impressive for a first novel and reminded me of Her Fearful Symmetry; only it read and flowed much easier." - J L Beal

"The characters come alive and I could clearly picture each one (Tom looked like Joseph Fiennes!). I've recommended this to all my friends as it's compulsive reading." - Paula

Do ghosts fall in love? Jemma Haley is about to find out....

Set in London, England, Love In The Wrong Dimension is a modern romance told from the perspective of a ghost.

When best friends, Jemma and Alice, wake up after a party, they make a pact that will change their lives forever.

Then tragedy strikes when Jemma dies unexpectedly and realises that she's become a ghost. Terrified, she goes to find Alice in the hope that, using her psychic abilities, her friend can tell her what to do next. Instead of making contact with Alice though, Jemma meets Tom, an attractive but elusive ghost, who tells her that she's trapped in the eleventh dimension, a place for ghosts who weren't meant to die. Jemma vows to find a way out, but things get complicated when she develops feelings for Tom, whose own reasons for being there are darker than she could ever have imagined.

In the worlds of the living and the dead, both girls try to come to terms with Jemma's death, but their efforts are hindered by other troubled spirits. For Jemma, it's the creepy and sinister ghost, Max, whose bitterness could threaten her safety, and for Alice, it's the ethereal ghostly child who has been following her since Jemma died.

Dark Steps

Dark Steps is a collection of eight short stories, each one with a twist in the tale. Not horror per sé, but unsettling... there are chills to be had in the everyday, in the decisions we make and the choices we take. It is these that Dark Steps deals in, serving up speculative fiction, psychological thrillers, good old fashioned ghost stories, and the subtle horror of the world around us.

Dark Steps is the first collection from author Martin Pond and, in his introduction, he talks candidly about his recent career and writing process, and how these factors have contributed to the stories in this anthology. In doing so, he adds an interesting dimension to what are already tales that linger long in the mind.

Step away from the everyday... and take Dark Steps into a shadowy place...

Ielle: A Realm of Janos Novel

Looking for a book about a big alpha male?  Enter the Realm of Janos.  The water is orange, the ground is blue and the men own their women as property.

I write what I like to read.  Interestingly enough, that's pretty hard to find.  Strong, dominant males, delightfully submissive females, a romance, a little intrigue - all wrapped up together in Ielle.

This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable. It is intended for an adult audience.

Song of the Ancestors Book I: Web of the Spider Queen

I am best known for writing horror and tales of the supernatural, stories
with modern settings and unbelievable situations. I decided I needed a
change.

This is my first foray into fantasy fiction. It is a classic tale of epic
fantasy adventure complete with massive battles, ruined castles, dark, dank
catacombs, murky swamplands and majestic forests. There are many monsters
and beasts from legend as well as few new ones thrown in. The classic good
against evil story told within a journey to save a world.

The book started as a short story and after a few years of it nagging at me,
I realized that this world had a lot more to tell me about itself, so I
expanded it into a novella. It is the first of a series novellas and I hope
readers will enjoy this new direction in my writing.

When Walls Can Talk

I got the inspiration for this novella after visiting Dunstanburgh Castle on the North East coast of England. An evocative, haunting ruin, it sits on a windswept cliff, broken by the enemies of its power hungry owner. As I wandered the grounds, touching the walls that had been witness to so much, I thought "if only these walls could talk. . . ."

And the story idea simply popped into my head. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

A Fantasy Novella - approximately 84 pages

A missing prince. A haunted castle. A dangerous man bent on ruling the kingdom - whatever the cost.

Goodreads Review:

As soon as I started reading Supervillain I started laughing. This book is a pretty funny book and so I was laughing out loud at parts quite often.

Supervillain, is a pretty good guide on how to become a supervillain. Each chapter presents different information that will help anyone on their quest to become a supervillain. Some of the advice was really interesting and some of it was quite funny.

I think my favourite chapter would have to be the chapter would have to be the one about Superheroes, it was really fun to read and I definitely loved that one the most.

Overall, I thought that Supervillain: The Concise Guide was a fun and interesting little book that teaches you about the ins and outs of being a supervillain in a slightly realistic light.

Mending Fences

Hi, I'm Lucy Francis, and I write romance novels. Why? Because there's nothing more satisfying than creating two people who are perfect for each other, dropping them into each other's lives, and watching them fall in love.

In Mending Fences, CEO-turned-Curran Shaw certainly wasn't expecting Victoria Linden to drop into his life at a Halloween party. Equally unexpected was the amazing kiss she laid on him. She took off afterwards, before he could stop her, and that wasn't playing fair. He didn't even know her name, how could he possibly hunt her down?

Enter Peg-leg, a slightly deformed, very friendly pet bison, who manages to get himself into trouble with a fence and, in the process, gives Curran a second chance with the mysterious, secretive, damaged woman he hasn't been able to get out of his mind.

If you like contemporary romance in a western, mountain setting, filled with angst, family, humor, and sexual tension, pick up a copy of Mending Fences. $3.99 on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Mending-Fences-ebook/dp/B0077I0OIG

Review:
"I love the layers of this story--the way the secrets were revealed to the reader and the hero, and the way the secondary love story mirrors the main one. And I loved the gentle build of the romance. The characters grew together in a realistic yet romantic way. All in all, a terrific debut!" --MJ Fredrick, award-winning, multi-published romance author

The Adventures of Riley Raccoon

Think of the most beautiful and perfect person, place, or thing you can think of. Maybe it's your spouse, your boyfriend or girlfriend, your child, special secret place from your childhood, the most breathtaking view in the world, or the greatest work of art ever created. Now, picture it destroyed. Picture it defiled, trodden upon, desecrated, demolished; picture its original beauty, purity, and perfection ultimately corrupted forever, with no hope of restoration.

This is what young Riley Raccoon learns from his best friend, Charlotte- that everything beautiful and perfect in the world is in danger from the common creature. The common creature- who isn't capable of perceiving such magnificence, nor has the profound respect for it if they do. These creatures exist everywhere and are a threat to everything sacred, for their indifference to greatness makes them enemies of the pure.

This is Riley's adventure- to protect and preserve what he loves most in the world, and is willing to risk his life to do so. He learns there is a place where everything beautiful is eternally safe- inside his own heart.

Book description:

Young Riley Raccoon sets out on an adventure to save three havens in his forest, each giving him something unique and irreplaceable in his life. The Priest

My name is Monica La Porta and I am an unrepentant thinker. I like to ask myself questions. Lots of them. The more obscure the better. And then, after having thought about it for a while, I find the answers. I normally put them in writing as well. Two years ago, I heard somewhere that medical science is making possible for women to conceive other women without the male contribution. Naturally, several questions followed. What if women didn’t need men to procreate anymore? What would happen to the men? How such society would evolve? The Chronicles of Ginecea is my take on an alternate reality where women have subdued men and heterosexual relationships are considered a perversion. The Priest, the first installation in The Chronicles of Ginecea, is also my first published novel. The book is now available in Kindle format on Amazon at http://www.amazon.com/Priest-Ginecean-Chronicles-ebook/dp/B0075XAFWS/

Here is a short description for you: “Mauricio is a slave. Like any man born on Ginecea, he is but a number for the pure breed women who rule over him with cruel hands. Imprisoned inside the Temple since birth, Mauricio has never been outside, never felt the warmth of the sun on his skin. He lives a life devoid of hopes and desires. Then one day, he hears Rosie sing. He risks everything for one look at her and his life is changed, forever. An impossible friendship blossoms into affection deemed sinful and perverted in a society where the only rightful union is between women. Love is born where only hate has roots and leads Mauricio to uncover a truth that could destroy Ginecea.”

Rise and Fall: Book One of the Blood and Tears Trilogy

A deafening silence filled the inner courtyard. Massacred bodies with faces frozen in fear and despair covered the space once home to beautiful gardens. Nothing stirred except for the five High Mages fanning out amongst the motionless forms, each searching for a sign of life. The smell of burnt flesh enveloped Amcaro and worked its way into his nostrils and robes. More than two dozen royal guards lay dead, joined by half as many servants—charred husks against the white stone floor.

Standing amid the devastation, Amcaro's mouth hung open in disbelief. "One Above, how did this happen?" he whispered.

Description:

An ill-prepared queen, a soft-hearted mercenary, and a crippled warrior struggle as a kingdom falls and an empire rises.

For years the High Mages of Cadonia have maintained an uneasy peace among the nobles disgruntled with the rule of the king. In the aftermath of a tragic event, Elyse, the king's daughter, is thrust into a role she is not ready for. As queen, she must now determine who to trust while struggling to keep the kingdom from collapsing around her.

The Hell Patrol, a legendary mercenary outfit commanded by Jonrell, finds itself disenfranchised with their current employer. Recalling a promise he made over a decade ago, Jonrell breaks his contract in order to right the wrongs of his past.

On the continent of Hesh, the Blue Island Clan has long been ignored by its neighbors. Tobin, a warrior and son of the Clan's ruler, struggles as an outcast as he watches his brother Kaz lead his father's army to glory. Emboldened by a new friendship with a mysterious shaman, Tobin finds himself gaining the respect he always wanted.

An epic fantasy tale, Rise and Fall is the first book in the Blood and Tears Trilogy.

The Weeping Empress

The idea for this book was born after a night of watching some intellectually limp anime about a good natured young girl was swept away to another land. (There is a tribute to these shameful beginnings in chapter one. Can you find it?) I made some withering comment about how such characters never seem to mind, or miss home. There was laughter and more wine, but later that night I began to think 'what would a normal woman with something to lose do? Thus was born Chiyo Alglaeca.

I was raised bouncing around The States, saw a lot of wonderful lives, grew up, spent an eon in university, and bounced across the Atlantic to continue the adventure. The Weeping Empress is my first novel.

Synopsis: Chiyo Alglaeca was happy in her life. That is, until it was all taken away. Forced into notoriety, stalked by a mysterious cult, hunted by the emperor, and facing betrayal at every turn she clings to the only safety she can find: two enigmatic men and the sharp bringer of death, Salvation. The Weeping Empress explores the devastating effects of loss, the hunt for redemption, and the price of destiny. It questions the true meaning of evil and asks what monster is not also an innocent? Set in fictional Dashkalil, it follows Chiyo and her two companions, Muhjah and Senka, as they tread a treacherous path laid by god herself. Having found herself in a strange new land, scared, and haunted by loss, Chiyo embraces the only option available to her, the life of a warrior. But some things aren't meant to be, no matter how hard you fight for them. Will her anger be enough to see her through?

TRIBE

My five years working Afghanistan as a diplomat got under my skin for life. So, I wrote a novel, TRIBE, which delves into two of tribal groupings: Afghans and the U.S. Power Establisment.

CIA ops officer Harry Brennan put months of careful planning into Operation TALISMAN, aimed at giving a knockout blow to al-Qaeda in Afghanistan.  Then CIA headquarters shuts down TALISMAN with no explanation.  As he investigates why, Harry, a rebel at heart, runs afoul of the CIA's leadership and the White House as he gets in the way of a huge oil deal, one that promises to ensure a President's re-election, troop withdrawal from Afghanistan and vast wealth to the oilmen who are behind the plot.  Harry's life is in danger.  Worse, so is that of his daughter, Laurie, who is kidnapped by Islamist terrorists in Yemen.  Harry Brennan sets out to expose a conspiracy and in doing so, save his daughter's life. . .

THREAD OF HOPE

I wrote three other P.I. books before I wrote Thread of Hope and I decided that I wanted to write about something that scared me. But not something like ghosts or clowns (don't ask) or things that go bump in the night. What was the one thing I feared most?

And that one thing was something happening to my daughter.

So I created a character whose daughter was abducted and never found. Her disappearance changed every aspect of his life and he's haunted by her disappearance and he can't let her go. So as he continues to search for her, he looks for other missing kids. And the irony is that he can find every missing child but his own.

It was a scary, uncomfortable book to write - but it's exactly the kind of book I wanted to write. But never have to live.

Book Description: Seven years after Joe Tyler's daughter Elizabeth was abducted, he hasn't stopped looking for answers, and he hasn't forgotten the friend who stood by him as he lost his wife, his home, and his career in his search. Now he's been brought back to San Diego by the news that this friend has been arrested for beating up a teenage girl—a girl not much older than Elizabeth would be now. Joe is convinced Chuck Winslow is innocent, but Chuck is in a coma and can't explain what happened. And the more Joe hears about what Chuck's been up to in the years he's been gone, the less Joe recognizes his old friend. Mama

I'm Robin Morris, author of Mama. I had this story in my head for many years, but I finally wrote it after I moved to L.A. and thought of having the Conovers drive the other way, back to Illinois. To get an accurate description of what they see and the time and mileage, I went on vacation and drove the route myself. All the places and road signs and scenery are real. Whether Mama herself is real, I will leave to you to decide.

As the Conover family drives from L.A. to Chicago strange things begin to happen. Nine year old Michael sees a face form in the window of the family car. Two creepy children stare at fourteen year old Alison at a motel. A car follows the family for many miles, then hits their car and drives away.

Wherever the Conover family goes, wherever they look, they see a large woman and her children coming closer. The woman and her children are superhumanly strong. They can enter a locked room without opening the door.

Confused and scared, the Conovers can't comprehend what is happening to them. Everywhere they turn they see the woman and her children. The woman is Mama, and as she teaches her children, like a lioness teaching her cubs to hunt, the Conovers realize that they are the prey.

The Adventure Tournament

From the goofy/disturbed mind of Nicholas Andrews comes The Adventure Tournament, a debut into the humorous fantasy genre that is sure to leave you in stitches... of laughter, that is. The book won't actually hurt you.

Honest.

Remy Fairwyn is an enthusiastic youngster whose ambition is to travel the land in search of fame and treasure, righting wrongs and winning glory along the way. Unfortunately, he's currently enrolled in a seemingly never ending program of education at Foeny University. And he has a father who disapproves of such pursuits. And he happens to have a mind more suited to a pack mule than a great warrior. That all changes when the kingdom's powers-that-be introduce an Adventure Tournament, with instant fame being the prize at the end.

This story contains (1) corrupt organization looking to use the kingdom's woes to swell its own coffers. Contains your daily requirement of Feminist Healers, Professional Wrestlers, Drama Kings, Pompous Asses, Narcoleptic Thieves, Overbearing Fathers, Ambiguous Relations, Runaway Treasure Chests, Flying Shoes and a pinch of Cute Kitty Monsters Willing to Devour Any and All. Also contains one (1) Remy, perhaps the most ill-suited adventurer to ever wield a big piece of wood. Stir the brain well before reading; side effects may include side-splitting laughter, mild cases of forehead slapping and erectile dysfunction. Do not read if pregnant.

Will Remy be able to cook up an unlikely victory? Or is his participation a recipe for disaster?
