Julianne by Rebekah Lyn

Have you ever wanted to walk out of your job and not look back? That is exactly what Julianne did one Fall morning.

Review from Amazon
Rebekah Lyn, author of Storm Storms, doesn't disappoint with her newest book, Julianne. Rebekah's paragraphs are filled with descriptive scenes, interesting characters, and a solid faith that shines through her pages from beginning to end. The novel invites the reader to visit the world of theater...weaving the trials of running a community playhouse with the daily lives of honest, believable characters. Julianne is inspired by the local playhouse theater and its passion to survive economic times and low attendance. She throws herself into a master plan to save the jewel of the art community, The Garner House. Will she be successful?

Like a playwright herself, the author builds her main characters Oliver, Cameron, Gavin, and big brother Michael into a fast-paced, delightful story of relationships, pain and happiness. God's plan for Julianne becomes center stage and her friends become the actors in this story of life. A side story of romance will keep you wondering if Julianne finds her soul-mate...who will be holding her hand at the end of the book, as the curtain rises at The Garner House? Enjoy!

CHASING FOOLS

I'm pleased to submit CHASING FOOLS to Goodkindles. CHASING FOOLS, a romantic suspense/family drama, will be free on Amazon on 9/18/2012 and 9/19/2012 (link: http://www.amazon.com/Chasing-Fools-ebook/dp/B008M06TQY/).

CHASING FOOLS fun fact: I tried out some of the bizarre foods named in the book for research purposes.

Varda Dorfman and Tommy Campi are lucky in love--sort of. Varda's an illegal foods smuggler in love with Tommy's brother, Gino. Tommy, the family romeo, is secretly gay and in a serious relationship he can't tell anyone about. Varda wants to leave smuggling to be an artisan cheesemaker and live in sin (happily ever after, of course) with Gino. Tommy wants to find a way to come out of the closet and introduce his boyfriend Ryan to his old school Italian mother and grandmother. Noone's going to get what they want, though, because Varda has run afoul of a South Philly wannabe mobster/plumber who runs an underground dinner club and dates Tommy and Gino's mother.

When Tommy and Gino team up to get Varda off the hook, all hell breaks loose, and they discover the true definition of family, loyalty, and love.

Thank you!

BETWEEN SEASONS

Hey there! I'm Aida Brassington, the author of BETWEEN SEASONS, a paranormal romance which will be free on Amazon on 9/6/2012 and 9/7/2012 (link: http://www.amazon.com/Between-Seasons-Home-ebook/dp/B0061G3HHA/). Something you can't find out in the description and reviews...the house in which the novel is set is based on an actual place in Media, PA. I'm not sure if the house is actually haunted, of course, but it sure looks like it should be!

BETWEEN SEASONS explores the possibilities of a relationship between the living and the dead. A recently divorced Sara Oswald buys an old house, intent on starting her life over. She doesn't realize her house is already occupied by a 19 year old man named Patrick who's been dead for thirty years. Unsure of whether she's hallucinating, Sara makes a decision that might change the future for both of them.

Thank you!

More Ketchup than Salsa

Hmm... continue a career in fish entrails or run a bar on a sub-tropical island. Tricky.

We’re all presented with life-changing opportunities at times, the only question is do you grab it with both hands and wade right in, or pause, ponder and allow the moment to pass?

Despite having zero business acumen and combined life savings barely reaching the waist level of a ceramic pig, my girlfriend and I plough straight in to a new career, new culture and new life without a second thought. This is a true account of the calamities we faced.

For anybody who has flirted with the idea of escaping to fresh pastures, this award-winning book will either inspire, burst or simply clarify those dreams. Either way, you’ll find yourself laughing, crying and screaming... probably all at the same time.

It was while holding aloft a not altogether pleasant-smelling mackerel that the decision was made. The March rain hammered on the rotting tin roof high above the market stall, where I had spent the last six months pushing out dubious trays of marine life at three for a fiver. After a two-week vacation Joy and I vowed that a life in fish giblets was not going to be our destiny and a life in the sun, was.
A complete lack of catering experience, zero business acumen and the sum of our vastly wealth barely reaching waist level of a ceramic pig did little to deter our enthusiasm for buying a bar. “Where do we sign?” we replied. And then the whole silly, sunny saga began...

When Joe and his girlfriend Joy decide to trade in their life on a cold fish market to run a bar on a sub-tropical island, they anticipate a paradise of sea, sand and siestas. Little did they expect their foreign fantasy to turn out to be about as a wet Monday morning.

Amidst a host of eccentric locals, homesickness and the occasional cockroach infestation, pint-pulling novices Joe and Joy struggle with the expat culture and learn that, although the skies might be bluer, the grass is definitely not always greener.

A hilarious insight into the wild and wacky characters of an expat community on a vacation island, More Ketchup than Salsa is a must-read for anybody who has ever dreamed about jetting off to sunnier climes or finding a job abroad in these trying economic times.

FREE "Memory" Sept 9 and 10

I'm a musician and former journalist who was moved to write The Memory Songbook after witnessing so many baby boomers (and other generations) who are (or will be) assisting aging parents suffering from memory loss caused by Alzheimer's.  My own mother was swept away by time and fading memory.

The Memory Songbook  begins as a novel about youth, first love and music, and then becomes a story about a unique way we can hold onto youth and memory as we age.

The Memory Songbook shifts between the winter and summer of a singer-songwriter:  At 17 Frank doesn't think he has a past; at 50 he doubts he has a future.  Both discover new realms and possibilities by helping elders explore seminal life experiences through song.

DESTINIES

DESTINIES, a historical fiction novel, is a semi-finalist in Kindle Book Review's BEST INDIE BOOKS OF 2012.

It is an epic tale of royalty and rural family. The story is told from two viewpoints, that of Catherine, who became Catherine the Great, and that of Christian Kehler, a young Rhineland boy whose life was changed forever when Catherine invited his people to come live in Russia. Neither of them was prepared for what they were to come up against. Catherine repeatedly faces court intrigue, deceit, betrayal and attempts to overthrow her, including the most major attack against the monarchy in more than a hundred years, the Pugachev rebellion. Additionally, as much as she dislikes being suspicious, she continually imagines signs that her beloved of ten years is a liar and an unfaithful cheat. Is she right? If she is, how can she protect her breaking heart?

Christian's troubles begin early, with severe hardships during their travels along the the road to Lubeck and their eventual boarding of the Imperial sailing ships. There is no way to anticipate Christian's engagement with the captain's daughter or the frightening situation that arises on the ship. Nor can he or the girl know what lies ahead as they arrive in Russia: the cruel Lord Yefimov, the Russian Blacksmith or the Tzigane Gypsies.

Destinies is a sweeping saga that moves rapidly, keeping readers turning the pages, readers who end up saying they didn't want it to end.

AUTHOR KARLEENE MORROW, a student of history, psychology and sociology, writes historical fiction because it fits so well into her interests. She discovered through years of genealogy research that her family goes back to the Rhineland people who accepted Tzarina Catherine's invitation to move to Russia. That propelled her into research of Catherine and the Romanov Dynasty, and eventually into writing the historical fiction novel, Destinies. She lives at the beach in the Pacific Northwest with her Pomeranian show dogs and is at work on her next novel set in 18th century Virginia. Her mini book, Fiction Writing: How To Write Your Novel, will be released this fall.

DESTINIES is available as an ebook, $4.99, on Amazon.com, Barnes & Noble, Kobobooks, iTunes and Smashwords. The paperback book can be purchased at Amazon.com or CreateSpace.com for $22.50 or at a reduced price of $12.99 for an autographed copy direct from the author's web site at http://www.karleenemorrow.com

THERE ARE SIXTEEN  5-Star reviews on Amazon.com for Destinies as well as 5 Star reviews on Barnes & Noble. Following is a clip from one Amazon review:

"This historical novel is written with such grace, compassion and attention to detail that it is like no other I have read before. . . . Destinies by Karleene Morrow is truly a MUST READ. —Marilou George, The Kindle Book Review"

When you read DESTINIES, Author Karleene Morrow asks that if you enjoy it and can rate it four or five stars, please go to Amazon and leave your rating and a few comments or a review.  She says "Ratings are a great help to an author and we always read your comments.  They are truly appreciated."

Dear Cynthia

I began writing Dear Cynthia in 1977 during a period of emotional loss.  I conceived of the story, as told in fictional letters, as literary fiction in a science fiction setting, a concept that placed me at odds with the expectations of agents and critics.  They told me that you could not combine the two categories.    I cross boundaries in my writing, and did not see why you could not write a novel that would appeal to literate readers who also watched TV and went to the movies, who took cognizance of Star Trek, for example.

I noticed that crew aboard the Starship Enterprise had very little use for paper.  Instead, they walked around holding personal devices much like what we use today, though the stories were set in the 23rd Century.  In the late 1970s,  before the digital revolution, nobody was talking about that kind of technology popping up in the general culture any time soon.  But I could see how someday the world of books would change.  From the vantage point of my story, which begins in 2045, the world of paper books is largely a thing of the past.  Max, the narrator of the tale, looks back fondly on them as he writes letters from deep space to Cynthia, his former wife on Earth.

I hope you enjoy your trip through my galaxy.

For nine years the starship Solar Queen has been voyaging through space on its mission to discover the outermost bounds of the universe.  Bored with the mission and hedonistic lifestyle aboard ship, Max, a former scholar and now ship's librarian, takes up a fountain pen in hand and writes to Cynthia, his one and only wife in his first life on Earth.  "You and I were lovers and lovers of books," he writes. The letters are fed into the ship's computer and shot out at hyperlight speed toward distant Earth.  In this story the past has more weight, more resonance, than the present, in 2045.

Aided by a scrapbook, Max reminisces about his suburban childhood, high school in the 1960s where he and Cynthia were sweethearts, and later to the Institute of Life where both were reborn as clones in the 21st Century.  Cynthia and Max went their separate ways: Max going off exploring in space and Cynthia remaining on Earth.  As Max reminisces to Cynthia, he fends off advances from Vandora, his predatory supervisor aboard ship.  A gorgeous stowaway will complicate his life.  A warp disaster will shake the mission to its core.  Will Max ever see Cynthia again?

Tattered (Misfit McCabe)

When I sat down to write Tattered, I thought I had all the pieces. After all, it is the third book in a series. I knew the characters, I knew where I was picking up the action, I knew where I wanted to go with it. Oh, delusional author. The first indication everything would not go as smoothly as I thought was a character who popped up and kept throwing me one-liners, but refused to reveal herself, her name, or tell me how she fit into the plot. How could a character who came through almost as strong as my main character, Katie McCabe, keep so much hidden? Through perseverance, and I'll admit to some hair-pulling moments, Sunny Li finally stepped forward and delivered some of the most poignant moments of Tattered. Moments with Katie and Sunny are among my favorites for this book.

About the book:
What do Sunday afternoon court proceedings, cheerleader tryouts, and a book burning have in common? Katie McCabe is back in action.

After her nemesis Harvey is found guilty and sentenced to community service, Katie wants to believe her troubles are over, but Harvey won't rest until he gets revenge. When blackmail rears its ugly head, she's caught between friends and enemies putting her growing relationship with Tom at stake. Books go up in flames and Katie's world rains down in tatters.

About the author:
LK Gardner-Griffie is a two-time teen choice award winning author for her Misfit McCabe series. Daughter to a rocket scientist and an artist, LK combines the traits of both into a quirky yet pragmatic writer. In addition to writing, LK holds down a full-time job with an international transportation company as a process and efficiency expert. Her leisure time is spent with her husband sharing a love of music, singing, and college baseball. She writes into the night with the help of her three long-haired miniature dachshunds.

The Wedding Gift (Four Weddings and a Fiasco Series, Book 1)

The Wedding Gift by Lucy Kevin is the first book in a five book series about The Rose Chalet, a full-service wedding venue in San Francisco. One by one, each of the men and women who make people's wedding dreams come true will find their own true love.

BOOK DESCRIPTION: After Julie Delgado's restaurant closes, she temporarily takes over the catering position at the Rose Chalet, a full-service San Francisco wedding venue. She plans to dazzle the bride and groom so the Chalet's owner will keep her around, but fate has other plans for her when the bride's brother shows up for the first food tasting.

Andrew Kyle is not only the Cuisine Channel's Edgy Eats host and chef, but his recent review of Julie's restaurant was the final nail in its coffin. Once he meets Julie at the Rose Chalet, he's certain she's playing it safe. And he wants nothing more than to be the one to break her guarded passions loose.

But despite the undeniable sparks between Julie and Andrew–and the fact that he seems to believe in her when no one else does–can she afford to be taking risks with her cooking, with her career…or with her heart?

Sizzling in Singapore

The flames start dancing when chef de cuisine Mae Whitten learns that her new boss is the man she so brazenly shared herself with in her hotel's pool. He's a temporary fix for the problem of an executive chef gone missing. Nick's got big plans of his own that Mae knows don't include her. But working side by side in the intimacy of the kitchen makes it tough to ignore the instant passion they shared.

This book is written by a chef and includes recipes that are referenced in the book. Because there are times when you have to satisfy other appetites, too. The original recipes found at the end of the book have been tested and approved by the author, Torri D. Cooke. Torri has been around the world many times, taught cooking, worked at restaurants (both fancy and plain) and now brings her vast knowledge of food from all over the world to erotic romance.

Sizzling in Singapore (Carnal Cuisine Vol.1)

Sudden Death Overtime

We Canadians are champion diehard storytellers. I mean take a look at our winters. Take a look at our television network. Take a look at our mosquitoes. What else have we got to do but to sit around and tell stories to each other?

So sit on down – because I’ve got a story for you.

The story I am talking about is called SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME.

SUDDEN DEATH OVERTIME is a fast and fun read. It asks the question – what would a bunch of over-the-hill hockey playing old farts from Northern Labrador do against a tour bus full of vampires.  These are nasty bite-you-in-the-neck-and-drain-your-last-bottom-corpuscle vampires – guaranteed not to glitter. This book will chill you like a blast of a Northern Labrador blizzard and yet I guarantee a giggle or two.

This is a book that takes two of my favorite movies – Slapshot and 30 Days of Night – and combines them into one powerful yarn.

This isn’t high literature, you understand. This little novella is a pint of good cold beer and a cheeseburger.

And on top of that – reading this novella is actually good for your health. It has been scientifically proven that a good read will reduce your blood pressure and add years to your existence – so why don’t you save on gym membership fees and download a copy today.

Here’s a link to the Amazon.com page to make your work easier for you.

http://www.amazon.com/Sudden-Death-Overtime-ebook/dp/B0077ZR2TS

If you don’t believe me, why don’t you take a look at what the good folks at FAMOUS MONSTERS OF FILMLAND had to say about my novella.

The Underrails #1

Like any interworlder, Zya is intrigued when another nomad appears suggesting he can increase her access to some of the hidden portals in the ether. But helping him open it leaves them both in a situation that could have them brought in for questioning by the Watch. A race ensues to find the missing otherworlder they've accidentally let in through the portal.

XXX stories on kindle

One of the things that has surprised me, when I started to run Goodkindles, is that a lot of readers have been looking for the xxx stories. Main titles that the users have been searching for, are "naughty babysitters", followed by "filthy smut" and the general popular inquiry for "erotic xxx stories" and "lesbian xxx". So, dear authors of erotica, please send your adult novels to publish on Goodkindles!

How to be published

Some time ago, the only way for aspiring writers was to be published by a traditional publishing company, that would buy rights to your book, print it, and sell it the traditional way.

How to be published

Today, the new web technologies offer writers a great possibility to be self published author. You can make an ebook version of your work on your own, and submit it to one of the self-publishing sites, most importantly to Amazon. You will get 70 percent of income on every copy you will sell, and that is far more than any traditional publishing company will pay you.

How to be published, and sell a lot

Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who have self published, so in order to sell your book, you will have to market your book. There is a lot of options, including marketing your book that you can do on your own, like getting your book reviewed and listed on book review sites.

A Raucous Time

A Raucous Time by Julia Hughes
Amazon ASIN B0062SDMV8 $2.99

Julia Hughes (author of the Celtic Cousins Adventures) freely admits to being bowled over by the success of this novel which nearly never was.
She explains: '"A Raucous Time" follows the adventures of two cousins, one of whom believes he knows where the almost mythical treasure of King John can be found. Agents liked the concept, but asked that either the story line was made less sophisticated, or the two lead characters were made older. Basically it didn't easily fit into any genre.' This intelligent action packed adventure was shelved, and Julia focused on other projects. When Amazon introduced self publishing, the manuscript of "A Ripple in Time" also featuring the Celtic Cousins was uploaded. 'This time travel romantic adventure was well received, but some readers picked up on the fact that the cousins had a history. One or two commented that they felt as though they'd been dropped in mid story.' So with no great expectations Julia uploaded "A Raucous Time." 'I did increase the part played by Detective Crombie, and he's been such a hit, he now has his own adventure. I wasn't surprised when friends enthused about the story, but when unsolicited reviews started appearing on Amazon with comments such as "you can't get your eyes to move fast enough down the page" and "I absolutely loved it, story telling at its best" I felt almost guilty for neglecting the first Celtic Cousins Adventure. One reader even contacted me to say she'd spent Sunday morning ignoring household chores while she read the story in one sitting. The moment she finished reading, her son snatched her kindle up and he too is engrossed in the story.' And you cannot ask for a better recommendation than that. But as Julia says: "The great advantage with ebooks is that you don't have to rely on other readers' opinions, you can download a sample and judge for yourself."

One of the five five star reviews, reproduced by kind permission of "Beeza68":
There are certain ingredients a story needs to make it better than just good. If any author can gather these ingredients and blend them seamlessly together, then they are always on to a winner.

For me, this is my first step into the world created by author Julia Hughes, a world that revolves around two teenage boys - Wren, the geeky brainbox and his cousin Rhyllann, a pilot wannabe and Wren's best friend. Add to this, Crombie, the copper and oft self-appointed social worker, the lost treasure (a treasure that includes the fabled sword of Arthurian legend - Excalibur) of King John, and a gang of villains who will stop at nothing - including murder - to retrieve said treasure and you have a story that takes all of those ingredients, lovingly mixes them together and creates a wonderful story.

Most authors would have been very happy with the fact they had created a `wonderful' story. But no. Not this author. If ever writing a novel can be compared to creating a meal, then Ms. Hughes grabbed all those correct ingredients and then, when no-one was looking, slipped in an extra, secret one that a lot of other stories lack, and created something very special. That special ingredient is - for want of a better word - love. Love of the story, love of her characters. Love of her ART. Because that's what storytelling is. It's an art and Julia Hughes is one hell of an artist!

This is a story that defies genre. It cannot be labelled as simply an adventure story, or a teen angst story, a thriller or a comedy. It is all of these and more. It made me laugh out loud; it made me turn pages (well push buttons - on kindle) at speed to see what came next. There is a section of the book that in a summer (July 2012) that has had torrential rainfall here in the UK; you will feel a particular kinship with the boys. I know I did.

The author has created believable characters that you will love from the off. Her storytelling is tight and flows seamlessly from start to finish. Her descriptive style pulls your imagination along and paints the places and people so vividly, they will stay in your mind long after you have closed the book or switched off your kindle.

The good news is that there two other stories featuring the characters you meet in `Raucous Time'. `A Ripple in Time' & `An Explosive Time'. I have just started `Ripple' and can already announce that I love it.

Make a note of the name Julia Hughes because in literary terms, it's a name I'm sure we're going to hear a lot of in the future and I genuinely cannot wait!!!
