Black Rose; Dying - kindle ebook By Edward Val

To call Black Rose; Dying anything less than powerful is making a woeful understatement...

In his striking new collection of poetry, author Edward Val takes the reader deep into the heart and mind of a soldier who has not only seen the extreme pain, loss, and unspeakable horrors of war - but he's lived to tell about it. Composed during his two-year deployment in Iraq, Val's moving opus serves as a stirring testament to the indomitable strength and resilience of the human spirit.

Most impressive about Black Rose; Dying is the versatility that Val displays in chronicling the depths of his wartime experience. Many soldiers may be able to expound on similar topics as the ones that Val covers, but few would be able to do so in such arresting, compelling fashion. Whether employing the catchiness of end rhyme or the subtle profundity of haiku and senryu, Val ensures that the reader feels the full brunt of his musings - just as he experienced the real life events that inspired them. By styling his pieces so, Val lends his writings the much needed - and much appreciated - genuine authenticity that separates his collection from a garden variety recollection of life in the time of war.

Gripping, eye-opening, and brutally honest, Black Rose; Dying is an instant poetic classic that readers of all backgrounds can appreciate - regardless of whether or not you're a fan of poetry. Highly recommended.

Two Kinds of Color - Fiction/Crime novel by Deborah Kennedy

Amazon Link: http://www.amazon.com/Two-Kinds-of-Color-ebook/dp/B0031TZPH0

The Making Of A Family Regardless Of Their Being Two Kinds Of Color

Las Vegas, NV, February 20, 2013 - Two Kinds of Color (Createspace) by Deborah Kennedy may be fiction but its characters and events reflect the author's real life story; growing up black in a racially divided family who were mostly conceived through prostitution when her mother was pimped out by her father. Kennedy has already proven herself to be a compelling writer with a deep sense of compassion and an intensity that adds raw emotion to her amazing story.

Two Kinds of Color is the story of a mother's love and heroic sacrifice for her racially divided children, two black and two white, raised in a hustler's brutal environment on Chicago's south side. In her story, that parallels much of Kennedy's own life, Freddie Walker is a very beautiful and sensuous woman who begins working as a prostitute at age sixteen for a vain and greedy pimp/businessman. Jimmy Tate is her pimp and his notorious reputation and illegal gaming practices allow him to make all the money he can.

One stormy night Freddie attempts to leave Jimmy and take her children with her. Unfortunately, when he finds out he goes crazy and tries to kill her. When Freddie's best friend Ruby arrives just in the nick of time, a battle ensues in their dark bedroom that leaves Jimmy dead – resulting in Freddie and Ruby going to prison and the children being separated and sent into foster care.

But what happens when a prostitute like Freddie starts reading the Wall Street Journal and dabbling in the stock market? Does she make a fortune? Did Freddie kill Jimmy, or was it her best friend Ruby? What sacrifices did Freddie make for the sake of her children and what secrets did she keep from them? What will their legacy be and, as adults, will they have the courage to meet each other to find out?  These are the questions that keep readers rapidly turning pages to find answers.

Two Kinds of Color is a powerful story that would make an incredible box office smash hit! It sheds light on the underworld of prostitution and focuses on the truth of the pimps that abuse the children caught up in this world. It is a story of best friends, of having faith and belief in God, and of trust and love.

Kennedy's goal in writing this extraordinary story was to bring hope to women and their children trying to get out of this lifestyle, and to offer encouragement to children of racially divided siblings that no matter what one experiences in life, nothing is more important than family – even if they are two kinds of color.

Mother of Mercy - Kindle eBook by Lee Charles

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00D38WB44

Mother of Mercy rocketed to the top 200 list in the Amazon UK Kindle Store within a month of its release, an unusual feat for a debut novel. But then it's an unusual novel, a dark story with threads of warmth and humor running through it and a peculiarly funny autopsy scene.

This is the story of a young man who is convinced that the Virgin Mary has appeared to him and given him a mission, to call everyone to renounce their sinful ways and return to lives of virtue and devotion - by kidnapping attractive young women, torturing them until they confess their sins, then killing them and leaving their bodies in public places with notes urging repentance.

The police enlist a priest/psychologist to help them make sense out of all this, but he has some dark places of his own, and that complicates matters. The investigation leads them into tattoo parlors and dark basements where desperate men try to tame their flesh in the service of the spirit, while the killer's voice leads the reader through a series of journal entries illuminating his own journey.
In the end, killer and priest come face-to-face over the body of a woman they both know and care about, and their struggles come to a climax.

This is a story about the reasons that some people do terrible things with the best of intentions, about the ways that we struggle to reconcile spirituality and sexuality, and about what can happen when these struggles go wrong.

Who is Lee Charles? Certainly, this is not a debut novel…. My money is on Lee Charles being the pseudonym of an established writer branching out.

>>> Kevin Dyer

But my favorite part of the book was the dialogue, not just between characters, but also what the characters were thinking to themselves. It was natural and usually a little bit funny. It's also the kind of novel you can read on two levels: reading quickly to finally find out who done it or a little more slowly, contemplating the issue that the author is identifying.

Eternity - Kindle eBook by Teresa Federici

http://www.amazon.com/Eternity-Immortals-and-Magick-ebook/dp/B00CEL0D2S

Eternity was born of 6 weeks recuperation from a back injury that left me laid out on the couch watching vampire movies, my all-time favorite. I started writing it with no intention of publishing it, but after I wrote it, I loved it so much I wanted to share it with everyone. It was the first novel that I wrote that I felt so strongly about, so it was very exciting when it was picked up by a boutique publisher.

Eternity is not about just love, but how far people will go for the people they love. Its about friendship, trust, sacrifice, and loyalty. Yes, there are sexy vampires, werewolves, and witches but I like to think that its more than that. It's a fun read, a story that you want to get lost in, and hopefully revisit often. As one reader said, "A very powerful & moving vampire story..love the plot, storyline but most of all the writing. A well written story by a wonderful fresh starting out author. A must read hate it ended but oh so looking forward to the next one!

I hope you enjoy Anna and Gareth's story, and look for Magick, the second book in the trilogy, to be released late-fall 2013.

A Christian Romance

Widower Maggie O'Brien lost the love of her life three years ago.  She is now on a journey to find peace and closure.  This vibrant and spunky former pastor's wife wants to fulfill the dream she had over forty-two years ago of traveling the world and experiencing new adventures.  What she finds in Mason Springs, New Mexico isn't on her bucket list though.  Former judge and fellow widower Carson Jennings didn't expect Maggie either.  This adventurer never dreamed he'd be swept off his feet by a woman so different from his late wife.  The romance that blossoms between them will be tested in ways neither could have imagined.  Will their love for one another be strong enough to weather the storms—or will the love for their children and other circumstances keep them apart?  Join Maggie and Carson on their oftentimes hilarious and soul-searching adventure.  It's sure to tug at your heartstrings.

Some Reviews:
"This was a refreshing and delightful story.  A story that shows how two older people who have lost their spouses can find true love again. Ms. Patrick wrote it with just the right amount of drama, and romance to keep the reader's attention. The characters stand out and blend well together. As Carson and Maggie share their faith and depend on God for their strength to see them through the storms, we also see family life, how little things can either bind a family closer together or drive them apart. Although Maggie and Carson are older, they are in no way slowing down. The relationships that Maggie and Carson develop with each other as well as the people they meet seems to be on a fast track but the deep feelings are believable and made me want to turn the pages just as fast as I could. I found Reservations For Two to be a story that was filled with humorous moments with imperfect characters and because of that, I could relate very well...The one thing I loved about this book, because I rarely see it in others, is the incorporation of Maggie's children and grandchildren. It was so refreshing to watch as the different generations dealt with the same trials and tribulations although in different ways...I highly recommend this book to any lover of the sweet romance genre."

"By the last page I was in tears, because I didn't want the book to end! I didn't want to say goodbye to Maggie, Carson and their families and friends."

"This book had all 3 of the components that I look for in a book...made me think, laugh, and shed a few tears. I loved every word and did not want this book to end."

"WONDERFUL STORY ~ I COULDN`T PUT THE KINDLE DOWN. I HAD TEARS ROLLING DOWN MY CHEEKS AND WAS SMILING AT THE SAME TIME!!!"

Top Pick from Night Owl Reviews:  "This book was awesome. The story line was phenomenal. Anne Patrick has definitely out done herself with this book. She takes the Christian reading genre to a whole new height. Keep up the good work, and I can't wait to read the next one in this new series."

Five Hearts from The Romance Studio - "Although I'd read book two of this series first, I couldn't wait to read this one and I've got to say it didn't disappoint. The plot was captivating, and ensnared my attention from the beginning with Kory having to escape a tricky situation without getting herself killed. Good thing she was so resourceful, using her training in the Army to help her in her endeavor to get away...Overall, Ms. Patrick has written a really impressive tale in this one that I just had to read after reading the second one in this series. And now I'm eagerly awaiting the third installment of this incredible series, which is going to feature Kory's best friend Drew from her time in the Army." ~ Reviewed by Bec

Neverworld - kindle ebook by E. Racine

NEVERWORLD will be free on Amazon 7/25/2013- 7/26/2013

http://www.amazon.com/Neverworld-ebook/dp/B00CQCRAIK

Neverworld is the story of two young friends, sixteen-year-old Samantha Beckett and fourteen-year-old Charlie Neilson, who find themselves bound together on a great adventure in a place not found on any map-- a place called, NEVERWORLD.

Samantha has never known her mother.  All she knows, is that at only a few days old, a strange woman appeared from the woods surrounding her town and left her in basket at the doorstep of the Department of Family Services.  Since that day, she has lived in a series of foster homes, becoming a quiet, reclusive girl with the single-minded obsession of finding the woman who abandoned her at birth.  Attractive and intelligent, she nevertheless is a lonely girl, who's only friend is her neighbor and local malcontent, Charley Neilson.

Walking home from school on a cold autumn evening, Samantha and Charley finds themselves being chased by two boys.  But these do not appear to be normal boys.

"They looked…sick," Samantha said.
"I was going to say dying."
"Charley!"
"Well it's true.   I wouldn't pet a dog that looked that bad and neither would you."

Eluding their pursuers, they make it back to Samantha's foster home only to run head-long into a strange man.  Bearded, with a patch over one eye, he introduces himself as Captain Bartholomew Jones, and claims to have been sent to fetch Samantha back to her mother.  Samantha is wary, but intrigued; this may be her best chance to finally meet her mother.  Charley cautions against going with this "geezer-saurus", but when Samantha finally agrees, he reluctantly joins her.  Heading into the woods, Charley asks where they're going.

"Neverworld, he said. "No doubt you've heard of it?"
"Oh, sure.  That's um... west of here.  Isn't it?"
"Captain Jones laughed.  "Nay, lad.  Nor East nor North, nor South."
Samantha frowned.  "I've been studying maps since I was a child.  I don't remember ever seeing a place called Neverworld."
"Ain't surprising," said Captain Jones.
"Why, where is it?"
"Other side of the map."

In a ring of toadstools, Captain Jones thrusts a silver spoon into the ground.  The cool autumn night fades away and they find themselves on a warm beach, the sun setting before them.

"Welcome to Neverworld," said Captain Jones.

Neverworld is a primitive place.  Electricity and complex machinery is unknown here.  Delivering Samantha to her mother requires a sea journey of several weeks aboard Jones' sailing ship, the Parrot Dropping.  The land is fraught with danger and populated by creatures straight out of a fairy tale: Ogres, Elves, Gnomes and a surly, talking dog are only a few of the beings Samantha and Charley encounter during their voyage.  Many are helpful, including the mysterious swordsman, Thomas Drake and the Nymph, Daphne.  But not everyone is so accommodating.  Samantha learns that the 'boys' who chased her and Charley back in their world, were actually members of an ancient and evil race, the Gurka.  It was the Gurka who started Neverworld's last war--the year Samantha was born--and who now threaten war again.  Why they were after Samantha, is a mystery.

After many adventures and trials, Samantha and Charley finally arrive at their destination, only to discover that their reason for being here is a lie.  The true reason for Samantha's presence in Neverworld is to help stop a war, and it will require her to give the only thing that has ever truly been hers.

Neverworld is a novel for children and adults.

The Hangman's Replacement: Sprout of Disruption - kindle book by Taona Dumisani Chiveneko

In 2011, I was fortunate to be vacationing with my partner in the
lakeside resort town of Stresa, in Italy. I was reading Zimbabwean
news online when I came upon an article about the country's efforts to
hire a new hangman after the last one retired in 2004. I wondered why
the recruitment effort had been launched after a seven year hiatus in
which the country appeared to be drifting towards abolition. The
premise was rich with the speculative potential that underlies all
exciting fiction. I immediately took out my computer and started
writing. More accurately, the story wrote itself through me. For many
hours, I literally dictated the events I was witnessing in my mind to
the stenographer huddled in my finger tips.

Fortunately, my partner had more than enough work to keep her busy so
we toiled side by side. Later that evening, I read her the first
thirty pages I had written. At that point, we both knew that this was
the story that would see completion: The Hangman's Replacement. Not
only did the premise raise many intriguing questions; I finally felt
that I had gained the threshold skill to tell the story as I intended
it.

As can be expected, the conception of the exciting premise had been
pleasurable. The birth was different. Adolescence was frenetic. There
was more than one mid-life crisis during each draft. My partner's
unwavering encouragement helped to keep wrestling with the manuscript,
especially when it stubbornly resisted the yolk of my nascent
storytelling confidence. A few good friends took the time to provide
extensive feedback along the way. They suggested discipline when my
narrative was errant and unfocused. They provided praise with the same
candour that they pointed out the critical flaws. These "aunts" and
"uncles" all helped to raise the literary child of an author who works
best in the solitude of his own imagination. Since I released my novel
in January of 2013, this family has been growing as new readers share
heir views on various forums including:

Psalms in the Key of my Life - kindle book by Carol Shelton Moye

Several years ago, I was inspired to write responses to each of the
Psalms, using poetry and song. The Psalms are my favorite part of the
Bible. I love the poetry, the music, and most of all, the emotion.
They have carried me through many difficult situations. My hope is
that in sharing my writing, I can help others to be as inspired by
them as I have been.

As I went through this process, I struggled with several of the
Psalms. I just couldn't relate to what the writer was going through.
God, in his infinite wisdom, chose to put me in situations that made
those Psalms very real for me. I tried to write those in a way that
would be universal, removing references to exact places or people.
Hopefully, my experiences are universal enough to provide inspiration.

This is not a biblical translation. I am NOT a Bible scholar. I did
refer to several commentaries and books by biblical scholars while
writing, especially when something was unclear to me. I kept my Bible
close at hand as I worked, referring to different translations. I
tried to stay true to the message of at least part of each Psalm. I
beg your forgiveness for those times I did not succeed.

I hope and pray my words will help build your faith and make your day
a bit brighter. God bless.

The Day The World Retreated - kindle ebook by Jim Armstrong

The Day The World Retreated is an inspirational story about hope for the future and the transforming power of faith.

Have you ever wondered how your life would change if you could go back in time and make just one decision differently?  Take a job.  Don't take a job.  Move to a city.  Don't move to a city.  Marry someone different.  Don't get married at all.  What if that decision was seemingly inconsequential; something that clearly could have no impact on yourself or anyone else?  The most irrelevant decisions often have the most profound impacts, and this story draws from the author's own personal experience and speculation about that very topic.

The story weaves together themes from both classic and modern science fiction ranging from the Twilight Zone to The Matrix.  Although set in the world of the year 2022, The Day The World Retreated is not a work of pure science fiction; it tells the story of five seemingly unrelated people whose lives intertwine in a most unexpected manner to transform the world.

In the Matter of Michael Vogel - a suspense thriller by Drew Yanno

http://www.amazon.com/In-Matter-Michael-Vogel-ebook/dp/B00BMQTTM6

Advanced Praise for In the Matter of Michael Vogel:

"'Michael Vogel' is a dramatic new take on the small town murder mystery, and the adage that a secret is a story you tell about others, while a lie is a story you tell about yourself. "

- Chuck Hogan, NY Times best-selling author of The Town and co-author of The Strain trilogy.

In this beautifully crafted weave of three voices, Yanno tells the story of a young boy's death in a small upstate New York town in the 1960's. Almost cinematic in the telling, he injects darkness into the sunniest summer afternoons and discloses lies with innocent simplicity. Think Tom Sawyer in Twin Peaks. A story that will live in your imagination long after you've reached "The End."

- Kate Flora, Edgar-nominated author of Finding Amy.

About the Book:

I grew up in a small town in upstate New York, not unlike the one depicted in the novel.  When I was twelve, I heard a rumor about people - adults - who were gathering on summer nights in a remote area just outside of town to engage in some rather tawdry behavior.  To a twelve year old boy, talk of sex would ordinarily be of great interest.  However, to me, the details of what they were doing was just downright creepy.  For that reason, it stuck in my mind and, as a writer, I always thought it might make good fodder for a novel.

In addition, I had heard stories over the years of children going missing at public swimming pools, only to turn up later drowned (including an incident in that same hometown).  However, in none of those stories had the child been murdered.  They simply weren't found when they first searched for them, usually because of the depth and murkiness of the water.  Again, as a writer, I thought "what if..."

Putting those two premises together, I came up with In the Matter of Michael Vogel, a murder mystery set in a fictional small town in upstate New York in 1966.  The story is told from the perspective of three members of the community: one is a sheriff with a past he'd like to forget; another is a twelve year-old boy with a future he hopes to avoid; and the third is a forty year-old bachelor with a secret he wants desperately to keep.  Together their stories converge in a conclusion that is both surprising and thrilling.

About the Author

I grew up loving both sports and reading.  When I wasn't engaged in one, I was wrapped up in the other.  Eventually, my education brought me to becoming a lawyer.  From there, the lure of writing took hold and I became a screenwriter and, eventually, a screenwriting professor.  In the Matter of Michael Vogel is my first novel.

The Outrider Legion: kindle ebook by Christopher Pepper

http://www.amazon.com/The-Outrider-Legion-Book-ebook/dp/B00BA15PG2

This was my first full length novel I've ever written.  I conjured it up out of a lifetime of discarded Dungeons & Dragons campaigns, homebrew RPG adventures, fragments of history, and my own warped imagination.  At first I was just writing to tide myself over during summer break, but the story kept growing, and new characters would waltz into my story and make their home there.  Before I knew it, "The Outrider Legion" was over 50,000 words and still going, and I started to feel that I was writing something that other people would (hopefully) be interested in.

I tried to write a story I'd be interested in reading myself.  It needs action and adventure, sure, but developing characters that people would actually want to get to know was one of my main goals.  Sure, you can just take a surface reading of the archetypal characters and be done with it.  But adding layers beneath them all was a joy, crafting three dimensional people, made the writing so much more rewarding.

Hopefully you will feel the same way as you read this.  There are many more adventures ahead for my characters, and I hope that you will join them for a long time to come.

The name of the book is The Lies We Tell Ourselves and I wanted to write a book that would be brutally honest, captivating and painful enough that you could relate to me but not so painful that you would hurt reading it. I wrote for me and I wrote for you because I wanted to present this idea in a way that would capture people at the heart of the matter and help them to eliminate the lies. I am so passionate about this book that I am running a one-time only and free KDP promo on July 7th through the 11th 2013 so this is truly a great gift one way or another I hope you will gain a lot from. I was never going to offer it free on Amazon because I felt that what I have written was too valuable but after a long thought process it was more important that I get it into as many hands as possible to learn from so a free promo is in the works.

No one holds the keys to your success and happiness but you and because of that it is time to grab on to the idea that the only thing holding you back is the lies you tell yourself and this best-selling book will force you to assess the who, what, when, where and why factor inside of you. This book is full of personal stories and examples that will have you crying, cheering and laughing as well as celebrating the journey that the author has taken to arrive at where he is today. This is more than a personal growth and development story as it is about understanding what you really want and how to live happy, free and on your own terms. It is about a better life for you and your family and loved ones. The Lies We Tell Ourselves is a wonderful journey of life that cannot be explained in less than the entire book and I hope that you will enjoy it and learn from what I have to offer.

Young actress Mai Rose is faced with a dilemma: she's been a successful TV star for two years but has left her soap to try to gain credibility and experience in a stage production. However, she's still in rehearsals when the opportunity arises for her to participate in a competition to choose the leading actress in a major new fantasy film – in a role that seems ideal for her.
But that's only part of the dilemma.
She also begins to recognise that the world is a lot more complicated than she thought, and that there is a 'reality' outside her bubble of fame that she should be paying attention to. The fact that her brother has been fighting in Afghanistan, and comes home in a strange frame of mind, adds to her concern. As does the fact that her boyfriend, the drummer in a new band, seems to be growing more distant.
The final ingredient in this recipe for trouble and stress is the determination of one of the other contestants in the competition to be the one to win the role. Helena Cross is super-ambitious, conniving and just not a very nice person ... so why does Mai's brother start going out with her?
All of this takes place in the space of one month in London, with a short diversion to a Russian billionaires yacht in Cannes. What choices will Mai make? And will they make her happier and more successful?

Gracie's Inheritance

Gracie's Inheritance- Kindle ebook by Rachel A. Dyson

Gracie's Inheritance is the first of a succession of novellas that I intend to publish.  A story with a Gothic touch that will leave you feeling a little haunted.  Love and family are the most important things in life, and Gracie Lawson feels cheated by both.  When she reluctantly goes home to Nebraska for her grandmother's funeral, she is surprised to find an inheritance—a plantation in Georgia, where the history of her family is buried in a web of lies, deceit, and angry spirits.  As she uncovers her family's elusive past, she finds love and acceptance in the small Georgia town that she claims as her home.

This story is dedicated to my mother who died of cancer a few years ago.  Her love did not die with her body; I find evidence of it lingering around me every day, in my home, in my children, and especially within my heart.  Those that have lost loved ones know what I mean.  Love never dies, it just grows and becomes stronger with every soul in the line.  It is there to envelope us when we feel lost and broken.  In all those memories of your loved ones, remember the love because that is really all we need.

Chaos and corruption rides on the seven winds—from the sprawling cities, to the vast, nearly uninhabited wilds, the lands churn in turmoil as the Twelve Kingdoms vie for power and dominion. Nine of the twelve, called the Great Kingdoms, are Cities as ancient as time, bearing the sigil of old, one of the nine elements—wind, water, fire, flesh, stone, tree, metal, moon and sun. Yet the Nine struggle to hold their dominion as three new kingdoms rise to power. Using deception, they align themselves with a mysterious power, a dark and nameless city that rises from the ashes of war.

Thrones disappear within the night and the elemental beings, Dryads, sprites and giants that once flourished throughout the lands, vanish almost entirely. In a world torn asunder, where would you find hope?

When legends come to life the world trembles from a single name.  Ronin.  Once heroes from a different age, they wield elemental powers ...wind, water, fire, stone, forest, sun, moon, flesh and metal.

In a world without his memories, Gray must find his way amid legends and darkness, as he wrestles with an elemental power inside himself.

A power all too similar to the infamous Ronin.

Heronfield – kindle ebook by Dorinda Balchin

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Heronfield-ebook/dp/B009IH7FJ0

Amidst the bombs and bullets, the fear and confusion, it is sometimes the battles within our hearts which leave the deepest scars.

Tony had not planned to get involved in the retreat to Dunkirk and the chaos on the beaches, but his experiences there convinced him that he had to do something to bring this war to and end as soon as possible.

Having spent much of his childhood at Saint Nazaire, with plenty of contacts and an ability to speak faultless French it is not long before the Special Operations Executive recruit Tony to work with the French Resistance on the Atlantic coast.  Little does he realise that the secrecy which his work imposes will cause him almost as many problems in England as it does in France.

Back in England Tony's brother, David, is one of 'the few' flying day and night throughout the long hot summer of 1940 in an effort to defeat the Luftwaffe and so prevent Hitler's intended invasion of the island.  Tony's home, Heronfield House, is now being used as a convalescent hospital and it is here that he meets Sarah.  The course of love never runs smooth but his frequent trips to France, his failure to keep in touch, his secrets and inevitable lies make wartime love an impossibility for Tony.  His only hope is for a swift end to the war so that he can be honest with Sarah, but he has not anticipated the arrival of the Americans in general and one GI in particular…

From the outbreak of war to eventual victory in Europe we see the conflict through the interwoven lives of this group of people.  Heronfield is well-researched and historically accurate in its portrayal of many of the key events of the war in Europe - Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, the Blitz, the bombing of Coventry, the French Resistance, D Day and the push through Europe, the concentration camps – and at over 300,000 words long it is an epic saga that will keep you gripped until the very last page.

Limits - kindle ebook by Steph Campbell and Liz Reinhardt

Sometimes love grows in the places you'd least expect, in conditions you would never have anticipated...and it winds up being the strongest love of all.

LIMITS - a new adult romance - is on sale for .99 until July 1!

http://www.amazon.com/Limits-Lengths-ebook/dp/B00DC1Y6VS

LIMITS is a companion book in the LENGTHS series NOT a sequel. It was written as a stand-alone title. The other books do not need to be read prior to LIMITS in order to follow the story.

Genevieve Rodriguez is less than thrilled when her older brother's best friend, Deo, runs off and marries Whit, the girl who doesn't even deserve him. At least that's what Gen believes. And so what if everyone thinks it's just a stupid crush? She's had a thing for Deo for as far back as she can remember.

Freshly heartbroken and downright annoyed, Genevieve is also one 'D' away from getting kicked out of school. In other words, life could be better for the rowdy, youngest Rodriquez sibling. Her only hope of passing physics is her quiet, nerdy tutor, Adam.

Adam isn't her type at all. He's too quiet, too polite, and he'd rather stare at lab charts than bother to notice the bustier top so sexy, it turned the head of every guy in a five-mile radius.

When Adam tells Genevieve that he won't be back after winter break because his visa is about to expire, the words drop out of her spontaneous, heartbroken mouth before she has the time to think...

"Marry me."

Thinking it's a joke, Adam gives Genevieve a firm no. But when the joke turns into something more, all bets are off and all limits are broken. Adam may not notice a perfect bustier, but he can't resist a good argument. And Genevieve has been arguing to get exactly what she wants her entire life.

Where the river meets the sea - an oral history of growing up in the wild King Country of New Zealand during the Great Depression - kindle ebook by Jane Wilks

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CYX4OKS

Grace Puddy was born in 1921 in Mokau New Zealand. To the local bus drivers in her neighbourhood who sometimes drop her off right outside her gate, she is affectionately known as "Mussel Woman". Her mussel fritters are legendary and are often made as a token of thanks. The recipe for them is included at the end of this book. However it is simply the story of Grace's early life that is worth telling. A great character, her childhood was a  very humble and poor one growing up by the sea in a remote coastal area of New Zealand.
In this book, Grace herself at ninety-two years of age, talks about her life growing up in Mokau and Awakino. It was a time of great hardship for many during the worldwide Great Depression. Many people literally had to live off the land, and the sea, as Grace's family did. She was one of eleven children and her father was unable to work. There was no money and they had to "make do" like so many others.

Her humour and spirit shine through in this interesting oral account.
It relates to a bygone era, but thankfully Grace is here to tell her tale.

Aberration - a Kindle ebook by Lisa Regan

http://www.amazon.com/Aberration-ebook/dp/B00D6QKWIA

"Aberration is a compelling and sophisticated suspense novel." - Mark Pryor, author of The Bookseller.

"With Kassidy Bishop, Lisa Regan has created a character that's not only smart, but vulnerable.  It's that kind of complexity that lifts her novels from others in the suspense genre."  - Gregg Olsen, New York Times Bestselling author.

Even serial killers can be classified, categorized and profiled.  Until now.  Aberration is a crime thriller that puts readers into the mind of a killer and the FBI agent on the hunt for him.  FBI Profiler Kassidy Bishop's latest case involves the "For You" killer, a serial killer who stalks his victims for weeks before subjecting them to victim-specific torture and murdering them.  The trouble is, the "For You" Killer doesn't fit the usual profiles of serial killers. He's an aberration, a freak, and he's set his sights on Kassidy.

What Kassidy doesn't know is that Wyatt has been stalking her since they were kids.  To assuage his guilt for not protecting her from a vicious attack five years earlier, Wyatt has made a list of people who have wronged her, and now he is killing for her.  The book is told from alternating points of view—Kassidy and Wyatt.  In this cat and mouse game, nothing is what it seems.  The book has two stunning twists at the end that will make readers want to go back to the beginning and read it all over again.

The Ripple in Space-Time - kindle ebook by SF Chapman

There are a couple of big brutes in my Science Fiction Action/Adventure novel called The Ripple in Space-Time (Available as a Free Kindle download June 29th and 30th worldwide).

Both are twenty-fifth century space pirates that generally do those things that pirates have done for centuries like rough up the citizenry, swindle the gullible, purloin valuable vessels and, above all, murder the innocent for financial gain.

The troublemakers are, of course, men. Human history is filled with many such malicious fellows: the archetypical Neanderthal savages who pounded each other with clubs, the Medieval Vikings and Vandals who plundered and burned, and the wild west desperados who shot at anything that moved.

It's easy to reduce the bad guys down to flat characters with only the attributes of pure evil. Bad guys are called "bad" for good reasons. I can't imagine Billy the Kid or Genseric, King of the Vandals having soft spots for fluffy, saucer-eyed kittens. But perhaps they did; unfortunately neither a quick Google search nor an idle twenty-five minute hunt through the shelves at my local library revealed how "The Kid" or Genseric felt about young felines.

When I wrote The Ripple in Space-Time, I wanted to be realistic with my ruthless space pirates. I wanted to give them believable personalities. Certainly they were bad dudes but I felt that they should have some ephemeral wisps of humanity as well.

The Captain of the space pirates is Olin Gristle. I melded together two amusing names for his moniker that I found one Sunday morning in the Obituary section of the San Francisco Chronicle. One of the good guys in the book notes that, "for some reason, pirates always seem to have the best names." Captain Gristle is especially cruel and vindictive towards prisoners but he does redeem himself when he exerts significant effort to defend the misdoings of some members of his crew.

The First Mate on the pirate ship is Bosco Kremerling, again a name cobbled together from the Obituary Section. "Boz," as he is constantly reminding everyone to call him, is a hulking and short-tempered bruiser with no reservations towards violence and intimidation. Early in the book Boz terrorizes one of the main female characters with a dagger. Some benevolence eventually peeks through the clouds of menace. Over the course of the story, Boz develops a reluctant fondness and sympathy for the woman.

Perhaps during the minor revisions for the second edition of The Ripple in Space-Time I will add a note that Captain Gristle and First Mate Boz were both secretly fond of kittens.

Cloud Computing: The Glide OS Story, Solving The Cross Platform Puzzle - Kindle ebook by Donald and Claire Leka

The Glide OS Story is a Must-Read for any entreprneur pioneering a new
technology!

In this era of cross platform wars and online surveillance, there has
never been a better time for the release of this book. Authors Donald
Leka and Claire Leka take you behind the scenes at Glide where the
challenge is the complexity of solving the cross platform problem and
providing users with greater control over their personal data.

The platform wars between Apple, Google and Microsoft are taking place
on the native desktop and in the cloud. While consumers are benefiting
from innovation that is spawned by competition there is a downside:
Different platforms and cloud services don't work together as they
should. In addition, consumers do not have adequate transparency into
how their personal data is used. Since we all live in a multi-platform
world and use cloud services, everyone is affected.

Since 2005, Glide has offered a different vision of the future where
consumers are empowered by cross platform technology and have greater
control over their personal data. This book challenges the technology
industry to put users first and open up proprietary ecosystems to
facilitate cross platform capabilities and increase user control and
transparency over personal data. It's a fast-paced, inspiring and
thought provoking read. You will not be able to put this book down.
