Though the major plot is about learning who murdered the victim, as in every Rocky Bluff P.D. mystery it Is also about the ongoing lives of the men and women who serve and protect the town of Rocky Bluff. The coming of a new female police chief has everyone a bit on edge and Officer Gordon Butler wonders how her coming will affect his romantic relationship with Officer Lizette Gibbs. Officer Ryan Strickland faces two big developments in his life: the birth of his Down Syndrome daughter and resembling the description of a serial rapist. The ensemble cast of the Rocky Bluff P.D. series has many fans, but despite this being the tenth offering, as all the others, it is written as a stand-alone.
