I've written this book just as if I were sitting opposite the reader and telling a story, except this is real. The book begins in 1957 just after moving from Kensington, Maryland, to Dallas. I was one very unhappy 14- year-old and it showed up immediately in my new school. Despite the funk I was in I met Steve Miller, yes, that Steve Miller, and we started a rock band. With Boz Scaggs on bass, and a great band we took over Dallas and the whole story is in the book with quotes from Steve Miller.

But, wait a minute, what about Kensington? Well, first of all I tell of some of my interesting ancestry, then tell how my parents met, and then finally in the signature section of the book I tell of my return trip to Kensington as an adult and the emotional results. With one story after another I cover the entire spectrum of being a happy kid in a small town. Uh, oh, wait another minute. It wasn't all happy was it?

This is a great book if I do say so myself, and it's a book for everyone. It has a little bit of everything.
