THE LIFE LIST- a chick-lit novel by Chrissy Anderson

*****The Life List is free on Amazon's kindle 3/6 & 3/7: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009OMK4EC *****

"I don't say this often, but with this one it's true: I could not put this book down. The writing, as well as the story sucked me in, and I was hooked from page one. I suspect it's a story that will stay with me for some time, too."- Amy Metz, Author & Creator of A Blue Million Books Blog

The Life List is the ultimate chick lit novel and most of the story is true. Chrissy Anderson, a twenty-eight year old fashion executive, created a seven-point life list at the age of sixteen and she's been steadily checking off the boxes and mocking the style and life choices of everyone around her ever since. Her life begins to run amuck when she unexpectedly meets a much younger, Leo, who makes her question her "perfect life".

Chrissy's lifelong friendships and her marriage are put to the test as she tries to sort out her feelings for Leo. With the help of her brassy, no-nonsense therapist, Dr. Maria, Chrissy learns more about herself than she anticipates. But, it isn't until the untimely death of her best friend that Chrissy is catapulted into long overdue authenticity and scrambles to correct the mistakes of her past…trying to figure out if it's Kurt, Leo or both that she has to get rid of to make everything right.

Women of all kinds- twenty-somethings, housewives and superwomen wanna-bes- will all be able to relate to the pressure of constructing the ideal life, only to fall short. Not everyone will agree with Chrissy Anderson's decisions, but all will pause as they follow along on her journey to ask, "What would I do if I were her?"

Redemption Song-a mystery/detective novel by Derick Parsons

http://amazon.com/dp/B00A0OK4ES

Redemption Song is my second novel, published after the success of HIDDEN. It is NOT a sequel in any way but one or two characters from Hidden do make a cameo appearance. Redemption Song is a detective story but largely focusses on one man's journey back from the brink. It is also a story about an unlikely friendship and, possibly, an even more unlikely romance!

The blurb reads;

Who is murdering black men in Dublin, and why? Is it a racist, anti-immigrant group or are there other, hidden reasons for the killings? These are some of the questions that detective Jack O'Neill must answer in order to stop the carnage and save his career. But as the pressure -and the body count- mounts Jack finds that he must solve the case to save not just his job but his life as he becomes the killer's next target.
But Jack has personal demons of his own he must overcome, and a past that could yet destroy his last shot at redemption.

Early, independent customer reviews read;

'This author should be encouraged to continue to give life to these characters, so well crafted in his first two books. His Jack O'Neill/Frank Carr pairing could be the Irish version of Inspector Morse/Sgt Lewis. If we are lucky, perhaps he will develop O'Neill and his Dublin colleagues into as captivating a collection as Bartholomew Gill's McGarr collection. Let us see more ... of these well developed characters and well plotted stories.'
'Loved it everyone should read it. I usually don't try new authors but this one was very good.'
'I love Redemption Song!'
'Entertaining and compelling...I highly recommend this book.'
'A delightful Irish detective story. I really liked the two characters, Jack and Frank.'
'A thrilling, gritty story with convincing characters. Full of exciting twists and turns. I look forward to the next installment.'
'A very good book...buy it.'
'Edge of the seat reading. Brought back memories of my time on the force. Jack reminds me of my old chief who trained me in as a new rookie on the force.'
'enjoyed the read...fast moving...good plot...would read the author again...kept me interested and wanting to keep turning the pages...made sense in real life.'

CRUXIM - paranormal romance by Karin Cox

What happens when a fallen angel with no hint of his shady past falls
for a human turned vampire, or a half-lioness Sphinx? Mayhem and
angst, that's what!

When writing Cruxim, I wanted make Amedeo and his love interest
something a little unusual. I knew I need to make him conflicted about
his past and his role in the world. As I was searching through
mythological creatures, I read about Kresniks, which are creatures
from Croatian mythology that are sometimes called Cruxim. They dine on
vampires but are basically angels. I decided to explore making my hero
an angelic being whose mission was to kill vampires, because how can
you be considered holy and yet spend your life killing others? And
then I wondered, what if someone dear to him became a vampire? How
would he handle that when his mission is to kill them all? And the
rest of the story sort of just fell into place. My Cruxim certainly
has a cross to bear!

For me, incorporating the freakshow presented a really good
opportunity to juxtapose the mythological with the supposedly
"freakish." Often, there is a scientific or rational explanation for
the things we consider to be otherworldly, and I wanted to put my
mythological Sphinx and Cruxim in a place where they were the true
explained freaks of nature. Doing that enabled me to spend more time
exploring Amedeo's relationship with his Maker too. Why had he been
singled out to be this creature unlike any other? Or had he? The
hardest part was definitely writing the ending. I worried that some
readers would be annoyed about what happened to some of the characters
(without inserting spoilers). But much more is explained in the
sequel, which I am currently writing and which explains why things
turned out that way. Perhaps, not all is as it seems.

Promoting Unscramble Words For Fun And Knowledge Volume 1

http://www.amazon.com/Unscramble-Words-Knowledge-Volume-ebook/dp/B00AOD0Q34

The free days are March 2 and 3 2013.

My book is "Unscramble Words For Fun And Knowledge Volume 1" A book about games and puzzles by JJM Games

I was looking for a fun educational book that the whole family can play. It can be a great way to bring families together.

Playing word scramble games is a great way to exercise the mind. It has been shown that word scramble activities can assist children in developing their spelling and reading skills. When children exercise their brains they can learn new subjects. Unscrambling the letters and being able to make words out of them is educational, provides mental stimulation, and as lots of fun too!

The purpose of this fun but educational word scramble book is to help to teach children to identify different kinds of animals. from dogs and cats to farm animals, fish, frogs, horses and more.

All the jumbled words in each of the word scrambles are related to different types of animals. The purpose of the games is to choose from one of the theme sets such as cats, dogs, farm animals, fish, frogs, horses and dinosaur word scrambles

The word scramble games in 'Unscramble Words For Fun And Knowledge Volume 1' can provide parents
a great opportunity for their children to learn puzzle solving early on. I has been shown that children have the abitity to learn new skills quickly.

People who love scrabble like word games should love this book.

Eat Your Heart Out - a Women's Contemporary Fiction / Chick Lit novel by Giulia Simolo

Hidden- a thriller by Derick Parsons

http://amazon.com/dp/B009E6U56K

Hidden is a thriller, set in Dublin, and is about two women; one a psychologist, the other her beautiful but very disturbed young patient. It is my first book and was the No. 1 downloaded book on Amazon in November...yea! It was also No. 1 in the Thriller/Suspense category for about a week. A technical glitch meant it was unavailable for about a week, which dropped it out of the charts, but it's been doing well again since it went back on sale. I'm trying not to think of all the thousands of people who tried to buy it while it was on the bestseller list, and couldn't!

The blurb reads;

Why has a beautiful young woman been committed to an insane asylum? What is the truth behind a shadowy past containing drug use, promiscuity and murder? What secrets does she hold that others will kill to keep HIDDEN? These are questions that psychologist Kate Bennett must answer if she is to save her patient's sanity...and both their lives. But Kate has secrets of her own, and a dark past that will come back to haunt her.
Hidden is a thriller, set in Dublin, but it is also a voyage of self-discovery for Kate as she learns not just the truth about her patient, but some truths about herself.

More to the point, some of the reviews read;

'...a deeply gifted writer with a brilliant -a very brilliant- future indeed.'
'Suspenseful with a surprise ending...couldn't quit until I finished the book.'
'The best read ever. You will love it, as I did.'
'Loved the book...hated having to put it down.'
'Excellent read...well written.'
'Very suspenseful...great job!''
'Great book...thoroughly enjoyed it!'
'Mr. Parsons is a gifted writer who has an admirable command of language and sentence structure, making this a fascinating read.'
'I finished the book in three days...because I couldn't put it down!'

I particularly like the 'deeply gifted writer' bit!

Interesting Fitness - a book for fat old men trying to stay fit by Jonathan Kamp

http://www.amazon.com/Interesting-Fitness-ebook/dp/B00B6PCBRI

"Interesting Fitness" is about how fat old men – like me – figure out ways to try to stay fit.

I learned many of the techniques while on active military duty, but they also translate well for normal civilians. I've been trying to lose 20 pounds since the day I retired from the Army in the early 2000s – I think it's 30 pounds now – and this book details they way I go about it.

If you're overweight or not a triathlete, but still try to stay fit as often as you can, this is your book - as it assists in finding and developing new ways to stay in shape. For example, you can dream up things that make your long walks more interesting. I used to chase barges along a river in Germany when I was stationed there in the 80s and 90s.

You can distract yourself on a bike ride by choosing a route with a view – keeping your eyes on the bike path, too, of course.

One of the main, new ideas I like to talk about in the book is a recommendation to take it easy on yourself for an extended period of time – doing light fitness activities to get your body used to being fit. Heck, maybe you could even take up jogging again someday once you're fit again (check with your doctor first, of course).

You can also do two things at one time, like walking your dog while, um, walking. And there is forced discipline – which just means that you hitch a ride with someone specifically to walk home for the exercise.

Enjoy!

Chronicle of the Mound Builders – an adventure/mystery novel by Elle Marie

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B009Z6MXPK

When archaeologist Angela Hunter discovers an ancient codex at a Mississippian Indian dig site, she is mystified. The Mississippians, also called the Mound Builders, vanished more than 700 years ago and had no known written language. Who could have written this journal?

In the early 1300's, Chipahua's family is torn apart. After he rebels against the Aztec tradition of human sacrifice, Chipahua is cursed by a jealous priest. The curse prevents him from bleeding, thus casting a cloud of shame over him since he is unable to participate in blood-letting rites to worship the gods. He escapes his enemies with his 12-year-old son and undertakes an arduous journey from the Gulf of Mexico up the Mississippi River. Guided by strange visions, they finally settle in the thriving community of Migaduha - modern-day Cahokia Mounds, Illinois.

Angela will let nothing stop her from solving the chronicle's mystery – not Dr. Franklin Oettendorf, her former professor and lover, or Joseph Edgewater, grand master of a secret Native American society. She translates the symbols in the codex and learns a terrible secret that threatens the balance of nature today. Only by joining forces with Joseph does she stand a chance of conquering the horrifying evil. But can she trust him? Despite her growing attraction to Joseph, she senses he's not telling her everything.

Reviews of Chronicle of the Mound Builders:

"I really enjoyed reading Chronicle of the Mound Builders. The author artfully wove the timelines, dropping hints as the story unfolded… I was so engrossed in the storyline that I read the book in two sittings during one weekend."

"This is an exciting read, a real page-turner. The story travels between the past and present such that the events of the past parallel the discoveries in the present in a timely manner. The story is filled with adventure and mystery. It was written with some intelligence as the author displays in-depth knowledge of ancient Aztec cultures, the Mississippians, and modern day archeological techniques. These are combined into a thrilling adventure. I look forward to the author's next book."

On Borrowed Time - Mystery Book Promotion By John Darling

On Borrowed Time - Mystery Book Promotion By John Darling

On Borrowed Time - Mystery Book Promotion By John Darling

On Borrowed Time is comprised of ten stories that follow the career of Detective Anderson!

Follow these exploits and those of his friends as they tackle some of the toughest cases in Miami!

Detective Coombs, B.B., Nate Kubrick, Lt. Jimmy Owens, Chauncey, and Beth are all part of his crime fighting team whose cases range from the search for a missing Notary Public to the hunt for a psychotic killer dubbed "Prime Cut" by the press to the investigation into the death of a "mad" scientist whose work was being secretly funded by the beautiful owner of an NFL team!

Here is just one of the 5 stars reviews this book has received:

Darling's portrayal of Detective Anderson is a total classic. The man is hard, street mean and an overall push over. He's out to save the world and you better just get out of the way. Reminds me of a Spade character from long ago. This is a collection of short stories which as you all know I try not to read. But they all center on the main character and read more like a novel with specific themes.

The stories are great mysteries all with surprises and very fast paced but none of them are alike. Anderson grows on the reader and the author's attempts at humor come off perfectly. For short stories the scenes are set well and there are no details left out that make you wonder what happened. No stone unturned, as it were.

I really enjoyed reading this book and will keep it on my shelf to read again. I just loved this guy and his unique way of solving murders and just looking at murders will keep me coming back. These are fast reads but very enjoyable. I can't wait to get into the next set of Detective Anderson stories.

Unauthorized Access - a thriller by Andrew McAllister

http://www.amazon.com/Unauthorized-Access-ebook/dp/B00896U00C

Unauthorized Access will be free for three days: March 6, 2013 to March 8, 2013.

Unauthorized Access tells the story of Rob Donovan and Lesley McGrath, a young couple in Boston whose lives are turned upside down by the jealousy of a supposed friend. The first successful cyberattack in American banking history starts the action and ratchets tensions up to a fever pitch, but the story is really about trust between the main characters. Some characters have earned loyalty but can't seem to find any, while others are trusted when they shouldn't be.

There's plenty of action, but my favorite parts of the book are the poignant scenes of interpersonal tension; the joyful acceptance of a diamond ring ... only to have the couple's entire future thrown into furious doubt when trouble erupts, and the man who is racked with guilt when he must visit the grave of a young person who died all too soon.

Finally, here are two true stories about the writing of this book. I personally visited every location in Boston that is mentioned in this book. If the characters eat in a restaurant, you can bet I was there checking out the decor and the menu. I also learned firsthand about the suspicious nature of jail guards in Boston. I wanted to be authentic when I described visits to the Suffolk County Jail, so I dropped by the real deal and struck up a conversation with a guard who happened to be outside having a smoke. I explained I was an author and proceeded to quiz him about details of the jail's interior. After a few minutes he gave me a knowing look and said, "There's no book, is there?" That was the end of the interview!

Her Handyman - A romantic comedy book promotion by Morgan Mandel

This romantic comedy featuring a hard-working guy, a far-out gal and a zany dog, is 99 cents most days, but from FRIDAY, MARCH 1, 2013 through SUNDAY, MARCH 3, 2013 it costs readers nothing to download on Amazon for your kindle or PC.

What Her Handyman is About:

Through his handyman business, Jake is accustomed to dealing with all sorts of strange individuals. Still, when he answers an urgent call to stop a toilet flood in the middle of the night at a penthouse, he can't help but gawk at the thin, waiflike blonde holding a strange looking canine. Has he entered a time zone? How else to account for his client's bizarre outfit straight from the seventies?

The long, flyaway hair, with a purple orchid dangling to the side, the peace sign hanging from a neckband, the mood ring on the finger, along with the gauzy, billowy white blouse, gypsy multi-colored skirt and high, furry sandals had to belong to a Flower Child. Yes, this gal was strange all right. Nothing like his fiancé, Angelina, a curvy, dependable brunette.

Even stranger was the guilty party, a critter growling and shooting dagger looks at Jake from the gal's arms. Jake had never laid eyes on a Chinese Crested canine before, but had heard of the breed and how it usually won ugliest dog contests. Poor thing was so ugly it was kind of cute. Also, very guilty.

Yes, everything that happened was FuFu's fault, from the moment she threw her toy into the toilet to when she knocked Jake over trying to get at it.

Who could guess that tiny, scrawny critter could have such a huge effect on Jake's perfectly planned future?

The abduction of a young newlywed in 1965 Atlanta planted the seed for Eyes of the Predator.

Some have asked where the idea for "Eyes of the Predator" came from. I was 14 years old and living in Atlanta in 1965. The City was rocked by the abduction and presumed murder of a young newlywed at Lenox Square a large shopping center that is now a huge upscale mall in the Buckhead area. Although her body was never found, her bloodstained car was. The incident was covered repeatedly in the media for months. You have to remember, this was a different world. Mothers still left their babies in strollers outside stores while they went in and shopped. It did not occur to anyone that someone would harm a child, or for that matter a young newlywed walking across a parking lot. Atlanta was truly traumatized by the disappearance of the young woman. No one had ever heard of Ted Bundy or John Wayne Gacy. I remember that even in school, teachers and students were in shock that such an occurrence could happen in 1965 Atlanta, which was then still somewhat a quiet, southern city. In short it made a deep impression on the mind of a lot of people, including me, and the idea that people could just disappear permanently was deeply disconcerting.

In the seventies and eighties I was policing in the Atlanta area, DeKalb County to be exact. Periodically, someone, almost always a young woman would disappear from some parking lot. The end was never good for them. Met some very bad people, almost always men and witnessed the ongoing patterns of abuse responding to domestic violence calls. I became aware in a very real way that some people live lives of terror and fear right under our noses.
I also became aware of the fact that there are human predators in the world. Like other predators, they seek weakness and vulnerability in their victims and the opportunity to exercise their will. I also learned that for many, if not most, the driving motivation behind their terrible acts is power, the ability to inflict pain on others. Sex is usually, if not always, secondary and another way of controlling and inflicting pain.

I realize that "Eyes of the Predator: The Pickham County Murders" may be a bit intense for some readers. I apologize for this. It tells a true story, not a real one. By that I mean the story is not based on any single case or event. It is a composite sketch of predators and their victims.

An additional parallel plot in the book is the parental abuse of the main female character. Again this plotline is true but not real. It is intended to paint a picture of abuse within a family but does not represent any particular family.
In any event, I realize the story is somewhat dark. Truth be known, I found writing some of the passages to be deeply disturbing but as the characters acted out on my computer screen they took on their own lives and acted for themselves. I simply recorded the action as I saw it.

I hope you enjoy the story. In the end, that is all that it is. If there are lessons to be learned, maybe we can all learn them.

There Comes a Prophet - A YA dystopian novel by David Litwack

http://amzn.to/YlWMqa

"But what are we without dreams?"

A world kept peaceful for a thousand years by the magic of the ruling vicars. But a threat lurks from a violent past. Wizards from the darkness have hidden their knowledge in a place called the keep and left a trail of clues that have never been solved.

Nathaniel has grown up longing for more but unwilling to challenge the vicars. Until his friend Thomas is taken for a teaching. Thomas returns but with his dreams ripped away. When Orah is taken next, Nathaniel tries to rescue her and ends up in the prisons of Temple City. There he meets the first keeper of the ancient clues. But when he seeks the keep, what he finds is not magic at all.

If he reveals the truth, he risks the words of the book of light coming to pass:

"If there comes among you a prophet saying 'Let us return to the darkness,' you shall stone him, because he has sought to thrust you away from the light."

There Comes a Prophet is about a society devoid of technology, the result of an overreaction to a distant past where progress had overtaken humanity and led to social collapse. The solution—an enforced return to a simpler time. But Prophet is also a coming of age story, a tale of three friends and their loyalty to each other as they struggle to confront a world gone awry. Each searches for the courage to fight the limits imposed by their leaders, along the way discovering their unique talents and purpose in life.

Reviews

"...the superb storyline and continually developing characters illuminate this engaging, futuristic tale...A must-read page turner." - Kirkus Review

"If the whole world falls into a Dark Age, which it could plausibly do, who could bring us out of it? According to David Litwack in There Comes A Prophet, the only answer is us, now, somehow reaching into the future." - Kaben Nanlohy for On Starships And Dragonwings

"As a high school teacher and avid reader, I am constantly in search of books for my students as well as myself. There Comes A Prophet is a perfect story for young adult readers, but its underlying theme and character development will keep any adult engaged. Nathaniel, Orah, and Thomas go on a journey to discover the keep, a rumored hidden treasure that many believe never existed or has been destroyed over time. Through their quest, the three main characters work to solve a riddle while meeting many strangers that provide them with more questions than answers. These questions, however, are the heart and soul of this book: How can just a few young people change the world? If all progress were stopped, would we look back to the knowledge and wisdom of our ancestors? David Litwack writes the message I hope all of my students hear: "Ideas combined with courage can change the world."

"Such a well-written book with so many thought-provoking concepts that I am sure readers will thoroughly enjoy it. --Fiona I. for Readers Favorite

I've worked in downtown D.C. for many years, and I like to take walks at lunch. Sometimes I walk to work from Union Station, and it's interesting the sorts of things and people you can see.

On some of my walks I started imagining a game that workers in cities could play on their lunch breaks and during happy hour. I have dabbled in programming and IT stuff over the years, so at first I thought about actually creating the game. It would be online, but also in a smartphone app. There would be real-world interaction too – almost like a role-playing game. You'd meet people for lunch, or at happy hour, and there would be strategies and intrigue involved. Players would be organized by guilds, and you'd get points for recruiting people to your guild, or finding people in other guilds.

But I'm more of a writer than a programmer, so instead of actually creating the game, I wanted to write a story with the game as the background. Then maybe some programmer could come along and make it! (If that's you, contact me.)

As I played with this concept of guilds and role-playing and whatnot, I was also reading some books about human nature. E.g., Pinker's book The Blank Slate. One thing he seems to have missed is the idea that different subpopulations of people might have different natures – so maybe there is no single, human nature.

Those two ideas come together in The Hidden Village -- the game, with its guilds, and the idea of "clans" with different characteristics. They're so different, in fact, that they don't feel any moral obligation to the rest of society. They think they're a law to themselves.

So in The Hidden Village, Geof Franklin gets caught up in all this. His son Alek has been recruited into one of the clans, and Geof is worried that he's involved in some sort of dangerous cult, so he investigates. But it gets him in all kinds of trouble.

Parallel Lives--a science fiction novel by Lori Lucero

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BH2AJWE

I am proud to announce the release of my first ebook, Parallel Lives,
a twist on a traditional time-travel story with an existential crisis
added to the mix. Who among us hasn't at some point wished we could
hit the "reset" button in our lives? What if you gained such an
opportunity, only to discover that most of your life history was
suddenly irrelevant?

If Jen can't get back to her usual self, she'll end up having to do
everything all over again. Jen is a thirty-seven-year-old
middle-school teacher in 2012. Overweight, underpaid, in debt, and
with a bitter divorce pending, Jen wants to start over.

Then Jen is hit by a car. When she awakens, she is a thirteen-year-old
kid with her same parents and siblings, but it is still 2012.
Initially Jen resists accepting her new reality, insisting that she is
thirty-seven years old. However, faced with the possibility of
confinement to a mental health ward, she is forced to play along.

Jen struggles to understand her situation. She jumps on every possible
source of information until she stumbles upon some discussions in
theoretical physics regarding parallel universes. Could this be what
happened to her? She contacts a quantum physics professor, who tells
her he can help her go "home", thus leaving her with a major decision.
Should she stay and relive the pain of adolescence, but have the
chance to make better life choices? Or should she return to her highly
flawed but familiar life?

Head Over Wheels spicy young romance, steamy contemporary romance, by January Valentine

Wickedly Hot!

January Valentine's newest novel is something to be savored; however, doing so might be impossible, because the story picks the reader up and sweeps the reader along on a wave of non-stop action, passion, mystery and suspense. All you can do is hang on and enjoy the ride.

This novel, which contains graphic sexual language and scenes, is for mature readers only. January Valentine has indeed mastered the art of writing such passionate scenes erotically yet tastefully. The sexual scenes are wickedly hot, without being raunchy. She knows how to tease and titillate her reader, so that the reader is not simply reading about the characters' passion, but experiencing it along with them.

The heroine, Jewelia, is a beautiful, spunky, determined and sensitive girl who is an aspiring NYPD officer and wise beyond her years. The man in her life, Jimmy (Indigo), is a handsome physician in training who harbors a deep family secret from his past, which, as Jewelia discovers, is the key to unlocking his heart. When Jewelia thinks she's been betrayed, the author uses that as a tool to heighten the passion that is yet to come, and to bring her and Indigo even closer. And when Indigo is forced to choose between his desire for Jewelia and his family obligations, what threatens to tear them apart is the impetus for bringing them closer together. Every time something threatens their relationship, their bond becomes stronger, and we learn, as Jewelia does, what it truly means to be in love with someone and commit your life to him. And when Indigo allows himself to unburden his secret to Jewelia, he understands the meaning of trust and how it can become an unbreakable bond. This is an incredibly romantic love story and a coming-of-age story all rolled into one.

January Valentine is an exceptionally talented writer who has a superb ear for phrases and vivid descriptions. Her characters are well-developed and tangible, allowing the reader to invest in and form immediate connections with them. This is a page-turner which will not disappoint you, and only make you hungry for more.

When Angels Fall A Benedetti Renaissance Mystery - Historical Fiction

This story is not a regurgitation of history but a careful blend of fact and fiction that offers a unique twist on murder in 15th century Florence. An unknown evil has wrapped its feathery arms of death around the women, from maid to noble woman. The first death, a woman of high birth and with the loftiest of connections is found murdered in the river Arno, an event that threatens to revisit the blood-drenched streets of the year before after the death of Giuliano Medici. Curl up with Emiliano and lose yourself as you travel back in timeThe characters, the sights and sounds will come alive as you race through the passageways of love, treachery, betrayal and deceit and peek into a dark world that exists in the shadows of the glittering rebirth.

"A straightforward and high-concept story with strong thriller and suspense elements; as a mystery, it delivers what it promises."

I live in Italy with my two rescued dogs and was inspired to write the first in a series when I lived in Florence. Between juggling other writing commitments, I am working on the second in the series, Broken Faith.

Another whoddunnit is on the way! My short story, Murder in the Morning will be published as part of a special edition ebook by Laurence O'Bryan's Jerusalem Puzzle (Harper Collins) later this year.

So Many Frogs...Not Enough Prozac - a dating memoir by Sammi Robin

We've all heard the story. You know, the one about the beautiful
princess who was locked in a tower by her wicked stepmother waiting
for her handsome prince to come and rescue her. Naturally, he did and
they lived happily ever after. Like most women, I long for the fairy
tale. I watch rom-com's, dream about finding my perfect soulmate and
imagine that my prince will ride up to my shared one bedroom apartment
on a white horse, or at least pull up to the nearest bar in a white
Escalade.

Unfortunately, what the fairy tales don't tell you, is that the road
to happily ever after is often filled with many heartbreaks,
disappointments and lots of frogs! I've kissed (ahem, polite euphemism
for had sex with) my share of frogs and I'm not talking about a prince
in frog's clothing. I've spent way too much time crying over and
analyzing guys who filled my head with false promises, treated me like
total crap and weren't even worthy of polishing my stilettos, let
alone placing one on my foot.

I remember after one particularly bad heartbreak, (the guy pretty much
ripped my heart out and handed it back to me in a proverbial blender)
I found myself sitting on the floor of the self-help aisle of Barnes &
Noble. I was bawling my eyes out and surrounded by titles such as
"It's Called A Break Up Because It's Broken" and "Why Men Love
Bitches." I was scaring customers, and quite frankly, I was scaring
myself. While these books offered some amazing insights and advice,
what I really wanted were the stories. Not just little snippets, but
all of the truly gory details. I wanted to know there was someone else
out there who made the most mortifying mistakes one can possibly make
in a relationship. I wanted to know there was someone else out there
who felt exactly the way I was feeling in that moment.

I'm going to let you into my little pink book. I've been involved
with identical twins, comedians, reality stars, and everyone in
between. I even had a fling with my ultimate teen idol, which
irrevocably changed me, and not necessarily for the better. Most
importantly, I've been "that girl." The girl who falls in love, gets
dumped and does everything wrong. "Drunken text messages" are my
middle name. You know the letter where you pour your heart out about
how much you loved him and how much he hurt you? The one you write but
are NEVER supposed to send? Oh, I've sent. I'll even let you read it.

With all the advances in modern technology, you would think that they
would have come up with an easy cure for heartbreak like a pill or
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. And while Prozac and tequila
can help in the short run (NOT taken together), there really is no
easy fix. Still, I'm hoping that my stories (and some stories
contributed by the amazing women in my life) will help ease the pain a
little.

Believe me, I've been there. I mean I've REALLY been there. Like I
said, I've been involved with every type of guy on the planet and I'm
not going to hold anything back. This book is 50 shades of heartbreak,
mistakes and lessons learned.

Red Haze -- a haunting murder mystery by Adrian Lilly

At its core, Red Haze is a murder-mystery ghost story. But ghosts come in many forms, from the actual spectral manifestation to those emotions and decisions that haunt us. Red Haze tackles both.

Red Haze is a novel that changed much over the time that I wrote it. But, I changed much during that time.

I had this novel scheduled to come out when my partner's younger brother passed away. For the last 18 years, he was my little brother, too. We were very close—we did everything together, and the loss was devastating. Suddenly, Red Haze became my way of working through the grief; it was a place to channel my sadness, anger, loss.

It took me months to return to writing. The novel was complete, and all I had to do was edit it. I would try, but I could not spare the emotional investment. The subject matter of Red Haze was very difficult to deal with, given my circumstances. Then one day, I had a new vision for Red Haze and instead of editing it, I rewrote it. That new vision is what I published.

Red Haze is a haunting psychological thriller that hovers between the spectral and the natural, blurring the lines between remembrance and regret, dedication and obsession, justice and revenge.

The characters in Red Haze deal with many of the issues I was battling. My goal was to create flawed characters. No one is perfectly good or perfectly bad. All the characters teeter, where they could go one way or the other, and their choices begin a domino effect they don't know how to stop. For me, grieving was like that: it's hard to stop once set in motion. It takes a tremendous, concerted effort to change the course. It takes actual decisions to force yourself to act, live. Writing Red Haze became my action, the finger that interrupted the falling dominoes.

Red Haze is a 99 cent ebook available at Amazon.

You can learn more about me, and see more writing, at www.adrianlilly.com.

"Author Adrian Lilly very skillfully weaves a multiplicity of threads, never once telegraphing in advance where a particular plot thread will end up. More than once I found myself on the edge of my seat, heart in mouth, awaiting an outcome. I'm eagerly anticipating the next book in this series."

"Sunset Rising" (Book 1) - a YA (16+) Dystopian novel by S.M. McEachern

Imagine if the world was in the process of being annihilated by nuclear bombs and you discovered a secret military refuge – what would you be willing to do to get inside to safety? And how would life evolve inside such a confined space? This is the backdrop to Sunset Rising.

Born a slave in the Pit, seventeen-year-old Sunny O'Donnell has reached a breaking point in her life. If trying to keep her father alive while still pleasing her demanding fiancé isn't stressful enough, now food and water rations are being reduced and workplace beatings are occurring more frequently. Although life in the Pit had never been easy, lately it was getting intolerable.

Then a chance meeting with Leisel Holt, daughter of the Dome's insane President, gives Sunny a spark of hope for the future of the Pit. In an effort to fan that spark into a flame, she agrees to pose as the bride at Leisel's wedding to Jack Kenner in order to save the bride from an assassination plot. But instead of saving Leisel, Sunny unknowingly plays into her political game and ends up marrying Jack Kenner herself. Now on the run as a traitor, Sunny escapes to the Pit with her new husband in tow only to find that her marriage has ignited a rebellion.

"Sunset Rising" is the first book of a series. It is the tale of how a love story can revive the human spirit to rise up and fight the bonds of oppression.

What some readers are saying about "Sunset Rising",

"Sunset Rising" is thrilling; there is no better word for it. It lures readers in with its fresh and tempting plot, and then hooks them with nonstop action that leaves them reading late into the night… Romance, intrigue, and action all come together beautifully here to create an experience that will leave anyone asking for more.

Molly Burkemper for Readers Favorite.

I am shocked this is this author's first book. It is excellently written, fast-paced, and loads of fun. I highly recommend this story to anyone who enjoys post-apocalyptic fiction. - Kerry MacAvoy (Amazon and Goodreads)

If you don't have a Kindle this book alone is worth the price of the reader. Hard to believe this is her first effort. - Dulce (Amazon Reviewer)

The Vanished Lady -a romantic suspense by Vickie Britton and Loretta Jackson

The Vanished Lady

Romantic suspense

Two have disappeared...will Dana be the next?

My sister and I have always loved to explore historic homes, and in Colorado we came across many lovely houses called "Painted Ladies". The term "painted lady" has a double meaning. It is used to refer to "soiled doves" or fallen women of the Old West, who painted their faces as opposed to respectable women who did not use cosmetics. Though the terms are unrelated, houses of that same era which are painted in a multi-colored scheme, the showy peacocks of architecture, are also referred to as "Painted Ladies". Many of these historic homes throughout the United States have been remodeled and turned into bed and breakfasts. And most of them have a tragic tale or a ghost or two. This fictional tale set in Colorado centers around such a secret.

Dana Lawrence doesn't imagine when she buys the quaint Victorian house in the remote mountains of Colorado that her life will soon be in danger. She has heard the legend of Lelia Glenn and how she vanished in the 1800's, but no one told her about the more recent disappearance of Amy Walden two years ago.

On the night of her arrival, Dana spies someone digging on her land. The sheriff tells her that on the day Amy disappeared Glenndale's jewelry store was robbed. Amy's boyfriend, Donnie Thorpe, is still on the run, and his accomplice, Jed Hoyt, has just been released from prison. Bennett believes a third party masterminded the robbery--her handsome neighbor, Logan Rand.
While Dana tries to beat the thieves to the stolen goods, she uncovers a grave. Threats and attempts on her life follow in rapid succession. Dana must identify the killer before she becomes the next vanished lady.

In this story, the emphasis is on mystery and romantic attraction. As with our other romantic suspenses Path of the Jaguar and Nightmare in Morocco, the love scenes are sweet rather than steamy.
