Mankind has spread to the Moon, several empires competing for
resources, advantage and position. Nuclear weapons are controlled by
the Shanghai Protocol, and peace reigns amongst the great powers of
the world.
An alien artifact overflies the Moon, plunging defences into chaos,
and heads towards the Earth. Without contact, who is it, what is it
and what do they want? Who can know? The world can only tell by their
actions.
The majority of the story focuses upon Jay, an artist employed to
create covers for albums, and for books. As the world goes to Hell in
a handbasket Jay's relationship with Sophie takes a turn for the
better. The pubs crowd out, live bands play out as if it is the end of
the world, and will Sophie come to him when it matters most?
