The Trial of Dr. Kate - Kindle ebook by Michael Glasscock

Book Two of the Round Rock Series

A doctor who can’t remember her crime.
A reporter fighting for the story of her life.
Two women at a crossroads in a town that never forgets.

In the summer of 1952, Lillian Johnson was found dead in her home, slumped in the wheelchair that had become her cage due to multiple sclerosis. An overdose of barbiturate had triggered a heart attack, but the scene was not quite right. It looked as though someone other than Lillian herself had injected the fatal dose.

Dr. Kate Marlow, Lillian’s physician and best friend, now sits in the Round Rock city jail. The only country doctor for miles, Kate cannot remember her whereabouts at the time of Lillian’s death⎯and the small Tennessee town buzzes with judgment.

As Dr. Kate’s trial approaches, another woman is determined to uncover the truth about the night of Lillian’s death. Memphis reporter Shenandoah Coleman grew up in Round Rock on the wrong side of the tracks, but unlike the rest of her unsavory clan, escaped her destiny. Now, back in the town she grew up in, she’ll have to turn every stone to keep Kate from a guilty verdict.

The Trial of Dr. Kate is the second novel in a four-part series from Michael E. Glasscock III that explores the intricate social cloth of Round Rock, Tennessee. Though each story stands alone, readers who enjoyed Glasscock’s first Round Rock tale, Little Joe, will delight in the cameo appearances in this one.

Little Joe - Kindle ebook by Michael Glasscock

A boy who has lost everything learns that love and friendship can bloom in the most unlikely of places.

When Little Joe Stout survives the car accident that took his parents' lives, he is sent to live with his maternal grandparents in the small town of Round Rock, Tennessee. Orphaned and missing his Texas home, Little Joe is reluctant to adapt. But his grandparents, especially his grandmother, are up to the challenge of raising him despite their own struggles. Soon, childhood friendships are forged in the oddball duo of Sugar and Bobby, and--with the help of a new canine companion--Little Joe begins to see that his new home offers the comfort and love he thought was lost forever.
Set against the drama of World War II and the first sparks of the civil rights movement, Little Joe's new home is a microcosm of America in the 1940s. A frightening incident with a Chinese motorist traveling on the wrong side of town, the migration of troops across the countryside, and a frank discussion of Jim Crow laws are just a few of the local events mirroring the radio broadcasts that bring the news of the day into his grandmother s kitchen.
Little Joe begins a four-part series from Michael E. Glasscock III that explores the intricate social cloth of Round Rock, Tennessee.

Second Chance Sister - kindle ebook by Billy McCoy

Second Chance Sister is a novel about the unconditional love between mother and daughter! It took me about three months to write Second Chance Sister and it was exciting, a few of the characters took a lot of time to develop. The story begins when Ashley refuses to marry promising Neal and instead runs off with heartthrob Brandon. Their relationship quickly ends and Ashley is forced to return back home with a child and to the unconditional love of her mother, despite her mother's initial warnings about Brandon.

The second story is called Online Dating a memoir, it is the story of lonely Peyton and his quest to find a date using an online dating service. His first date goes badly because of some uninvited church Hens, the rest is all downhill from there. Finally Peyton learns that it is him, and not the women he meets that is the chief source of his problems. Both stories can be read in a evening or so.

Dream Point - Kindle ebook by Steve Atkins

Dr. Thomas Stephens is a hand surgeon who lives in Eastern North Carolina. He suffers from a hand condition called Dupuytren's Contracture. He is not alone... President Ronald Reagan had it; Britain's Margaret Thatcher had it. Tom inherited the condition from his father. His father's deformed hand led to an untimely and horrible death, and that incident is what motivates Tom to find a cure. He hears about a tribe in the jungles of Peru who have apparently found a cure. The cure comes with a heavy price--perhaps more than Tom is willing to pay, and it is not about money.

Dr. Stephens goes to the deep jungles in search of the cure, but that search leads to an adventure that he will never forget. It is about survival, and world-renowned explorer Jack Wilde may be the only one who can save him.

I suffered from this condition, and my research on it led me to write a fictional account of what could happen in a world where good motives can quickly head in a bad direction. I did extensive research not only on the ailment, but in the geography of Peru and the indigenous people that live in the area.

It took me a year to write the book. The title comes from a side effect from the fictional drug that has the cure. Because of the drug's hallucinogenic properties, the illegal drug trade becomes involved. "Dream Point" is the term the doctors use to describe the state in a dream from which there is no return to reality.
The first few chapters introduce some of the main characters. Once Dr. Stephens travels to Peru, I believe that readers will have a hard time putting the book down.  Once I got into the mode of writing it, it was like watching a movie in my mind... I was just trying to keep up on the keyboard.

A Dead Red Cadillac by RP Dahlke

A Dead Red Cadillac is the result of  writing instructors telling me I should write what I know. Turning around in my tracks, I felt like the proverbial basset hound, "Where is it? Where is it?" Oh, yeah, three hundred yards from my house was a line-up of Ag-Cats, a grumpy old owner (my dad, and my boss), three hard-ass pilots, and a passel of helpers who giggled every time I gave them orders.
It was also the hardest job I've ever done--up at 3 a.m. every day, seven days a week, all summer long. There's a picture of me standing next to one of the big Ag-Cat's. A strong wind could've blown me over, I was that skinny! No wonder the help snickered when I walked by. However, I learned to tuck my girly-looks into a ball cap and baggy jeans, and finally mastered my don't-mess-with-me scowl.
I eventually left for another job, one that paid better and had better hours, but I also came away with a lot of stories. These books, starting with A Dead Red Cadillac are based on my experiences running my dad's crop-dusting business, and then my son's work in the Aero-Ag business.

Dark Application: ONE - a Thriller by Brian Krogstad

Free Kindle eBook December 25 to December 29

Dark Application: ONE is the new technothriller fans are already comparing to the genre's greats.  From the creative genius of the Pendergast books from Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child to the techno savvy of Michael Crichton; readers can't get enough.  The fast pacing and tight plot control has some comparing it to the Bourne books from Robert Ludlum.

What is it about this novel that has fans already clamoring for the sequel?Perhaps it's the plausibility of the technology, the conspiracy, and above all, the unlikely hero. At the center of this new technothriller is Luke Jeffers, a regular guy about to become extraordinary.A college student in Virginia, he finds himself caught up in a technological conspiracy beyond his understanding.

Almost overnight, he transforms from starving student to an unwitting pawn in a web of murder, lies, and conspiracy when he discovers the Department of Defense Application for Remote Kinetics, a simple application accidentally downloaded onto his smart phone and almost immediately in control of his life.

In a style reminiscent of the best technothrillers of the last three decades, Dark Application: ONE is filled with dark conspiracy, cyperpunk overtones, and above all a mystery at its core critical to Luke's escape from the cycle of destruction.  Volume One of the new Dark Application technothriller series by  Brian Krogstad and Lindsey Waterman will leave you breathless and desperate for more, grateful that "Volume One" certainly means that more are coming ;)

Seductive Secrets - kindle ebook by Colleen Connally

Seductive Secrets by Colleen Connally

CTRR Award-
I positively enjoyed Seductive Secrets. Colleen Connally spins a tale that scoops up the reader and transports them into action, romance and intrigue. There is so much more that makes this story spectacular. It is filled with deception, treachery, romance, intense drama, and detailed characters that pull in the reader from the beginning until the end. The secondary players add great finesse to the storyline. I have to admit it was completely hard to put this book down. Ms. Connally creates an enthralling read that surrounds with anticipation that continues to build, leaving this reader spellbound. - Cherokee

Previously published as Daughter of Deceit under Carrie James Haynes

RISQUE REVIEWS -Top Choice Award-
This story kept me on the edge of my seat as Alyce goes through the days trying to learn the truth. The suspense kept my heart racing as Alyce meets someone that knows something about her father. It turns out to be an attempt on her life. I literally held my breath until I knew she was alright.
Later in the story, Haynes takes Alyce through a journey of sensual feelings for Lord Julian. Alyce discovers that she is falling in love. And through the description Haynes uses throughout her story, I experience the same feelings Alyce felt. Haynes was able to make me place myself in this story to feel as if all the action that took place happened to me. I especially like when I read a book and can feel that way.
There is one scene toward the end of the book that made me not able to put the story down--when Alyce is led to old ruins at Colonel Tolworthy's estate by someone trying to cause her harm. I stayed up late reading the last section of the book because I simply could not quit reading until I knew the outcome.

Someone wants Alyce Hythe dead…

Shunned from London society for being the daughter of England's most notorious spy, Alyce Hythe desires only to clear her father's name. For years, she has been hidden away from all prying eyes, given a new identity and told to forget who she was. But strange things have been happening causing old rumors to once more be whispered. Long has Lord Julian Casvelyn lived with guilt brought on when his brother was murdered by England's most infamous traitor. But one eventful night has changed everything Lord Julian believed about his brother's death. Never did he suspect the woman he has just saved from certain harm is the daughter of that man. Now Julian is caught in midst of a conspiracy and desire for that woman. Thrown together by fate, the two search for answers long denied them and along the way discover a love that can free them both.

Circumstellar - kindle ebook and print by J. W. Lolite

FREE for Kindle 12/26 and 12/27!

It was just another day for Ingrid Fairheit in the not-so-illustrious town of Dust Veil, Tennessee: waking up late for school, taking care of drunk Aunt, crushing on best friend Ty, making sure her glowing purple eyes didn’t meet direct sunlight. You know, the usual business. So when she almost got killed by two hooded creeps looking for a magic space rock, you could call it a surprise. While seeking the truth behind the mysterious men (and accepting all the baggage that comes with it), Ingrid discovers that there is much more to the past than she ever cared to imagine – for the Earth and for herself.

Circumstellar is the first book of the new series by J. W. Lolite. It is a blend of science-fiction, fantasy, action, and even a little mystery. There’s a mouthy heroine, a brusque old woman in one of your average Tennessee temples, a few bullies, and some special characters of the non-human variety.

One Amazon reviewer writes: Honestly, I wasn't expecting much from the book, but after reading it I was highly impressed. Interesting characters and a very interesting story. I enjoyed reading the book because it was a nice change of pace from the vampire and zombie novels.
Another Amazon reviewer follows with: Loved it. I couldn't put it down. I sure hope there is more to come. Truly an intriguing tale. A must have for your collection!

LAVENDER BLUE - a kindle ebook by Parris Afton Bonds

I had such fun writing Lavender Blue.  The idea for this novel, set during the Civil War on the Texas/Mexican Gulf near the Rio Grande, was inspired by a novel I had read in junior high ~ The Scarlet Pimpernel, which was set during the French Revolution.  I learned a fascinating tidbit while researching Lavender Blue ~ that the Civil War's last battle was fought on the Rio Grande, weeks after the Civil War had officially ended because word of General Lee's surrender had yet to reach South Texas.  Lavender Blue involves a daring French privateer and a dear friend from Jeanette St. John's youth, now a bumbling dandy.  Our heroine  does not know which man fascinates her most.  Worse, she does not known that both are . . . well, I hope you'll read Lavender Blue to discover what shocking pleasure awaits Jeanette.  Many of my historical novels are entitled with song titles with colors - Deep Purple, Blue Bayou, Mood Indigo, Blue Moon, etc., but I will admit Lavender Blue is one of my favorite.

Lavender Blue is FREE New Years Day only.

The Unheralded King of Preston Plains Middle - eBook by Jedah Mayberry

Trajan Hopkins is the prototypical adolescent male, genus of the species, protected on all sides by the soft cushion of family. He worships his brother, Langston, invariably from a crouched defensive position in an effort to fend off the latest sequence of moves his brother is working to perfect.

Langston is widely regarded around town as Preston's most prolific fighter, steeped in martial arts, his ambition set on someday reaching the Olympic stage. Trajan fits neatly inside his brother's shadow, the dutiful second seed. When his brother dies, it's like one leg of a chair going missing, a wave of debilitating aftershocks sent rumbling throughout Trajan's existence warping his sense of connection to anybody near to him. He ventures into the world alone, steps out on the call of the wind, the rise of the moon, the tide pulling against him. He returns at the end of the night to diminished ties, the weave of familial cues strewn loose about him, waves crashing in, pushing him ever further from the shelter of home.

It tells a story of dislocation. A mother loses her eldest son. The other son loses his only brother. The boys’ father, estranged from the family ahead of his son’s death, loses his hold on everything dear to him. A grandfather stands by, calling on his spirit gods to set things right again, to piece his family back together.

A Dangerous Harbor by R.P. Dahlke

This series, starting with A Dangerous Harbor, is the result of sailing in  Mexico  aboard our cutter rigged Hylas 47 sailboat. A Dangerous Harbor is based in Ensenada and is, as most California sailors know, first port of call into Baja, Mexico after San Diego. Most of the town is clustered around the harbor where working marinas like Baja Naval still service American boaters. I found this sleepy little town to be fascinating, full of endless stories, with a culture that was, and still is, struggling to gain a foothold in the 21st Century.

The irony is that I started this book ten years ago, based on a local news story, which at the time was staggering in its brutality. This story is no longer unique as the Mexican Cartels daily murder with impunity. But, just as the cartels are not all that is Mexico, this story isn’t all about them, it’s about what happens when you try to run away from your problems and it’s about Americans, the ones passing through and the ones stuck in A Dangerous Harbor.  The irony is that I started this book ten years ago, based on a local news story, which at the time was staggering in its brutality. I am a survivor of abuse. Three Rules was written as fiction in order to make it an enjoyable read, but much of the thought processes, feelings and reactions are real. It was written with sincere respect and sensitivity for the reader while trying to convey the honest and realistic feelings of an abuse survivor. There are no gory detailed scenes. ~Marie

Swap Fat 4 Fit – Kindle ebook by James Atkinson

This can be purchased as a digital download or as a paper back. Swap Fat 4 Fit is a great guide and it has all of the information that you will ever need if you would like to finally turn your life around, including a weight loss exercise plan.
If you have read any of my other publications or articles, you will know that I am not a fan of the “Microwave mentality”. Meaning I don’t think, that starvation diets and fat loss pills are the way to go. In fact I think that the obesity epidemic is made much worse by this.
I believe that if you are serious about getting good results from a weight loss exercise plan or fitness of any kind, you have to follow a few steps-

First and most importantly; Sort your mind-set out

Every fitness or weight loss success story has to start somewhere. If you want to be the next success story, you need a solid foundation. The journey should always start with a strong mental attitude and a good understanding of the road ahead.
Correct mental preparation is sadly hugely overlooked.

Sort your body out

Whilst mental preparation is very important, so too is the function of your body, if you can get your body working like an efficient machine, you will be ahead of the game when it comes to burning those extra pounds off, believe it or not, you can train your body to burn calories even when you are at rest.
I am not into gimmicks and I will not throw you any outlandish claims. This can be done; it just takes a bit of the correct knowledge and a bit of time.

Sort your diet out

It may be obvious but, balanced diets are still not understood as well as we would like to think. Understanding the functions of the food that you put into your mouth is a big deal. The more you know about the food that you eat, the better off you will be.

Have a good weight loss exercise plan to follow

Another obvious point. Everyone knows that exercise will help you lose weight and get fitter. But does everyone know how to set up an effective all over body workout that can be done from home with minimum equipment?
I’m sure the answer is “No” because if it was “Yes” there would probably be no such thing as fitness instructors or personal trainers.
Swap Fat 4 Fit has a great progressive weight loss exercise plan that is easy to start and keep going.

And finally, be in it for the long term

It is important to know that you will not get your results overnight. Unfortunately, many fads and expensive diet pills will lead you to believe this. The longer that you continue with your efforts, the better that your results will be, not to mention that you will be healthier, wealthier and wiser. It will also become much easier for you.

Help some homeless Dogs

I have also promised to donate 10% of my profit from this book to the local dogs home Hilbrae in Telford. These guys are not as well-known as the other in our area and the dogs here could always do with a bit more comfort and a better chance to get a new home (If you have not heard of Hlibrae, please look them up. They have a charity number now so you can donate directly if you wish).

Start your weight loss exercise plan today

If I were to ask you what you were doing 1 year ago, what weight you were and if you had any fitness or weight loss plans? Would you say; “yes, I was the same weight as I am now but I had planned to start a weight loss diet” One year doesn’t seem like a long time ago does it?
If you started this fitness and lifestyle change that 1 year ago when you were thinking about it and you stuck to it, you would be very happy indeed right about now.
So don’t let the next year be the same old story. Swap Fat 4 Fit will guide you from your first step to your final sprint over the finish line.
It has all of the information that you need including a great weight loss exercise plan that can be done from home and it is the formula for real jaw dropping weight loss success.
I really wish you the best of luck with your efforts. And please remember that I will always be contactable through this website and the facebook page should you need any additional advice.
I have always said that I’m happier when someone comes to me with their success story than I am when someone buys one of my products. This is where my passion lies and I sincerely hope that it can help you!

BirthCONTROL: A Husband's Honest Account of Pregnancy - kindle ebook by James Vavasour
"…one husband’s hilarious recount of becoming dad... ...a man’s guide to the joys, anxieties and downright absurdities of pregnancy, but you don’t have to be on the path to fatherhood to get a kick out of his side of the story. Expect plenty of snark, but even his blunt (sometimes pessimistic) take is comforting because it’s definitely not sugarcoated. So dads-to-be, here’s the truth from someone who made it to the other side—and moms, you’ll be laughing too.."

Pregnancy and Newborn Magazine

"...BirthCONTROL is a hilarious recounting of the author's experience living out his wife's pregnancy.  It made me think of Up All Night or Parenthood, with a definite Woody Allen touch."

Editor and Author Sandi Gelles-Cole

"Hilarious. The perfect mix of David Sedaris, Tina Fey, and Johnathan Tropper. A quick read, I couldn't put it down and laughed the entire way through. Highly recommended. " Reader

Crazy About You - kindle ebook by Randy Attwood

I sat up till 3:30 a.m. reading Crazy. Couldn't put it down. I am now a fan of Attwood's writing. Can't wait to begin a second book. Easy read, humorous, good story line and left me wanting more.
What I loved best about this book was, truly, the writer’s style. He has an laid-back, very easy to read way with words that bring his characters alive quickly.
Be prepared to be intrigued! For those of us who grew up near the state hospital where this story takes place, you'll feel a bit voyeuristic as we peek into the lives of these characters. The mystery of what went on behind the barbed wire was always something I wondered about. This story does a great job of pulling the reader in. couldn't wait to find out what happened next!
CRAZY is the second book by Attwood I have read, and my admiration for his writing skills grows with each page. This story takes the reader for a trip into the strange space between the sane and insane--a mist-blurred world full of angst, mystery, surprises, plus bizarre and unpredictable behavior . . . This is an engaging and compelling coming of age tale that will haunt the reader for days . . . and leave you wishing for more.

Historic Treasures of Uzbekistan: Journey of Discovery along the Silk Road - kindle ebook by Peter Clarke

Why Uzbekistan? Where is it?

Two very good questions asked by my friends and family when I announced that I was embarking on a trip to Uzbekistan. They were questions that I had asked myself when researching the trip, so I proceeded to answer them as follows:
“Uzbekistan is in the middle of nowhere.”

I took out my battered and well-travelled old atlas to show them. I had folded down the page to make it easier to find. All the ‘Stans are located in the middle of the Asian continent, wedged in between Russia, China and India. Uzbekistan is literally in the middle of all the other ‘Stans, bordered by Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgistan.

Not a beach in sight, in fact, in Uzbekistan, you can’t get much further away from the sea. There is plenty of sand, though. Much of Uzbekistan is made up of desert, two deserts, in fact – the Karakum and the Kyzylkum – pretty desolate and forbidding places.
All of which led to their next question….

Why Uzbekistan?

Earlier that year I had embarked on another voyage of discovery to China, and in Xi’an in particular, I became fascinated by the history of the Silk Road and the countries of Central Asia through which it coursed on its way to the Mediterranean Sea and beyond to Italy. The centre of the Silk Road trade was a place called Samarkand which is in Uzbekistan.

A wealth of original and restored architecture reveals a rich history dating back beyond Genghis Khan who comes, conquers and destroys most of it in the 13th century.

Local hero Temur (Tamerlane) rebuilds it and makes Samarkand the capital of his great 14th century Empire. Stunningly decorated minarets, mosques, madrassahs and mausoleums have given Uzbekistan a rich architectural heritage and the author takes you on a journey to the major sites in Tashkent, Khiva, Bukhara and Samarkand, many of which are on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

So, I went and this is the story of my journey……
