Killing the Man - A thriller by Kenneth B Humphrey

"So, get this. In the course of trying to make sense of life, I found my road on the other side of a man who played no favorites. He killed whomever he needed to: black, white and everything in between.
And of course this whole mess also involved a girl, but she wasn’t my wife."

Fans of characters like Nelson DeMille's John Corey will get a kick out of Rick Killing. There is no situation so dire that he can't crack wise, even in the midst of a planned race war.

"It starts with the violent murders of three white upstanding professionals; three crimes stark in their symbolism. The first victim is found hanging from a tree, iron shackles around his neck and wrists. The second is burned alive in a white hood and robe. The third, staked through with a wooden cross.

Someone is sending a message, one that calls back to a dirty time in our nation's history, but what does it all mean? Rick has no idea. He's a man of failed promise who let his life slip off track and now only wants to get his own house in order. But as the murders continue, he finds that the focus is on him. Why? Is he the next target, or the next reason?

To answer those high-stakes questions, to reclaim the life he wants, Rick will have to go straight through men with plans for a new, mad world order; men who kill for cold purpose. It ends with a challenge to everything Rick has ever held close and a threat to the lives of those nearest to him."

Killing the Man tells several tales. First and foremost, it speaks to the problems that plague America: Ferguson, MO; Michael Brown; racial divide. But underneath it all, this book tells a deeper tale, that of a man who knows he hasn't lived up to his potential and needs that one thing to be his crucible.

Her Gardener's Secret - a romance by Ruby Loren

“It was great to read a romance where the girl is smart and works outdoors instead of in a shop or office.”

Love, rivalry, and revenge are blossoming beneath the branches in a country park and gardens in this steamy romance novel.

Jake and Lydia have been in a relationship together since leaving university, but when Lydia starts volunteering at country gardens, Heathley, she instantly clashes with the seriously sexy head gardener, Scott. For some unknown reason, Scott takes an instant dislike to her and Lydia is assigned jobs which isolate her from the rest of the group of volunteers and gardeners.

Unfortunately for Scott, that just makes Lydia more determined to show him that she is serious about gardening. But the harder she tries, the more things seem to end in disaster. And Scott has a talent for being right there when it all goes wrong. Will Lydia ever make him change his mind about her?

When a long awaited job opportunity finally arises at Heathley, there is fierce rivalry in the gardens that threatens to push her relationship to the breaking point. Lydia discovers that not everyone has shown their true colours yet.

Lydia is tempted by a garden romance, but will this path lead only to heartbreak?

Twilight Visitor - a global techno-thriller by Réal Laplaine

Thriller novel depicts startling scenario of China, Iran and North Korea tipping the scales on nuclear war says this about Twilight Visitor… “Twilight Visitor is quickly becoming a cult classic on Amazon…”

Twilight Visitor embraces a global scenario, a techno-thriller that challenges the reader to face the reality of nuclear threat and the sparking-points where such a threat can become reality; as China invades Iran for its oil and Iran retaliates by firing a nuclear warhead on Beijing. As the crisis spirals upward, North Korea throws-in with its own threat of nuclear reprisal should any nation interfere with China, causing an international panic as global powers are suddenly helpless to stop the imminent debacle.

Novelist David Luddington says this… “Twilight Visitor is a high concept thriller that is comparable with the best of Dan Brown or Jack Higgins.”

Thrilling to the end, the book also poses philosophical questions about the future of mankind, as well as introducing us to an enigmatic and beautiful off-worlder, one who has come to earth to help save it from disaster. The alien visitation is seamlessly introduced, and the focus of the story remains on two simultaneous stories, as the world edges toward nuclear meltdown, and that of the life of one man, a bioengineer vacationing on the beaches of Portugal, himself challenged by his own mid-life crisis, who suddenly finds himself facing off with this mystery woman, who tries to convince him that he has the means of stopping the imminent global meltdown. says this… “The story races along with (the) pace of a Tom Clancy thriller”
Amazon Hall of Famer top reviewer, Grady Harp, said… “Though there are many reasons why Réal Laplaine’s writing is so captivating – his sense of bizarre stories, his ability to make the surreal seem more real than our known reality, the underlying philosophical issues about the future of mankind his stories raise, his seeming grasp of the unknown – but chief among the qualities of his success is the eloquence of his manipulation of language.”

Rising Orchids, Fiction/Short Stories by Lauren Zamora

Rising Orchids is a collection of short stories that compels the reader to draw from their experiences with relationships.  The style of each story varies for the purpose of promoting the meaning of the story. If the story seems straightforward, then it might warrant a second read. There is a darkness that will intrigue an adventurous reader and satire to intrigue the close reader.  At the end of the book, the reader has found a commonality, pursuit and a dream of real love, which for many characters in the book is not found.  Zombies and angels are used to discover what love is...what it may mean.  How does one define love? A great question always asked, and the answer is elusive, in this book we see some tragic approaches to finding the answer.

Summers' Love - a Cute and Funny Cinderella Love Story by Stu Summers

SUMMER’S LOVE doesn’t really take itself seriously, but that’s exactly what makes it such a fun read. ~ Amazon readers

$1.99 (from Dec 24-Dec 31)

When Stu Summers was in high school, he dreamed of moving to an island and writing romantic, yet funny, love stories. (Because love is, after all, a comedy. I mean seriously. If you look at how men and women are wired it's obvious someone - God, maybe - loves conflict and comedy. She spends hours getting ready to go out. He goes out to his car in his boxers. She can multi-task and juggle ten thoughts at a time. His gaze hasn't left the television since last time the power went out. )

Although a girl in high school broke his heart, Stu never lost his passion for telling funny stories about his awkward romantic encounters. (Stu once closed his eyes, puckered up and kissed a wall when the girl eased away.) Today Stu is living his dream. While fiercely protective of his privacy (he refuses to divulge the name of the island from which he writes), Stu remains loyal to his readers, giving them glimpses into his pain, while lacing his stories with humor.

Stu Summers is an award-winning novelist and the author of "In Heat", "Puppy Love", "Paws On My Heart", "Hound Dog Heart", and "That Dog Won't Hunt" - all of which have been pulled from publication. (In Summers' Love you will learn why his former publisher yanked his books and purchased ALL used copies.)

Kathy knows she didn't kill Selby and Freddie is convinced she didn't, either. He knows there was some very bad blood between Selby and Selby's wealthy cousin Percy. Turns out there are others with motives, too, including the publishing company head, who has rather odd habits that apparently Selby knew about. Then there was Selby's thriving business making illegal whiskey.

Grumpy Old Wizards - A Fantasy by John O'Riley

For the most part, category six wizard, Josephine O’Connor, enjoys the retired life. Who wouldn’t like starting off the day with a good game of cards among lifelong friends, enjoying the Florida sun, and residing just a few minutes away from a white sandy beach? Unfortunately, life can’t be all fun and games. When Josephine is called in to help with a series of murders involving dark magic, she knows it won’t be easy. The killer covers his tracks very well and destroys virtually all trace of psychometric energy which makes the crime scene unreadable – even for a talent such as Josephine.
By all rights, she shouldn’t be forced to contend with this case. After all, she’s a retired eighty-four-year-old and she can hardly be blamed for having a beautiful body akin to a woman in her mid-twenties. It’s just one of the perks of being a rare category six. Soon, her problems pile up to insurmountable odds as the killer grows stronger, Detective Riley pesters her for a quick resolution to this challenging case, and her obnoxious neighbor starts harassing her just because she looks too young to live in a retirement community.

Praise For Grumpy Old Wizards:

"I love mysteries so I was prepared to really enjoy reading Grumpy Old Wizards. What I wasn’t prepared for was to totally fall in love with this book. The characters are fun and interesting. There are a lot of twists and turns in the story to keep you wanting more and more. But, the most entertaining part of the book is the pranks they play on Dale and Josephine’s ex husband. I haven’t giggled while reading a book in a long time but this one definitely did it.” Review left by Ellen P. Lafleche-Christian on Amazon.

"Fresh and original story with finally a refreshing and more real view on "eternal youth" in which physical eternal teenager beauty does not correspond to eternal teenager in the mind. I really enjoyed it greatly. Also a great storyline, good plot, and really really interesting characters all around.” Review left by Mirba on Amazon.

"This is book one in the "Grumpy Old Wizards" series. Josephine and her best friends, Helen and Alice, live in a retirement community near Siesta Key, Florida. They spend their days, well most of them, drinking coffee, playing cards and playing enchanted pranks on their annoying neighbor Dale. Life seems great until a serial killer comes to town and, Josephine, a level six wizard is called in to consult on the case. Will Josephine be able to solve the case before it's too late? What part does the vortex in Siesta Key play?

"Grumpy Old Wizards" is a funny page turning mystery. Even though I was able to solve the case long before the end of the story, I kept reading to see what prank these three women would play next. I loved Josephine spirited attitude, she was quite a woman to reckon with. If you like cozy mysteries or mysteries with good humor mixed, in then this is the book for you.” Review left by Simone Lilly-Egerter on Amazon.

The Zombie, the Cat, and Barack Obama. A satirical comedy by Christopher Antony Meade

Everybody likes to poke fun at those set above them and this book does that in spades. From President Obama to Queen Elizabeth II, to the Illuminati, nobody is spared. One reader actually said that her jaws hurt from all the laughing after reading it. That has to be a vote of confidence for a book claiming to be funny. Many more comments in a similar vein can be found amongst the reviews on Amazon.

Satire is a sword that really cuts deep and the weaknesses of the characters in this outrageously mad volume are exposed to the world mercilessly. It’s up to the reader to decide whether the writer is telling the truth or not. Perhaps he is. Either way, there are plenty of laughs to be gleaned, as the stories unfold. If you want to find out the embarrassing secrets of such notables as Barack Obama, Osama bin Laden, and Adolf Hitler, this book is the place to look. Just be prepared to be really surprised. The real truth about the Illuminati is to be found in these pages and it is totally different than people are told. Suffice to say, they are not shape-shifting reptiles. What they really are is much more weird, and more funny. The real stories behind climate change and the chemtrails controversy are revealed as well. Once again surprise and amazement are the order of the day. You will discover the reason why Santa Claus is sometimes very sad.

Of course, every good book requires a good villain. The cultured piano playing, but totally psychopathic, zombie Julian Faversham fills that roll admirably here. Unusually, he is not one of the usual run of the mill moronic shuffling undead. This zombie has brains and a high degree of class. His story opens the book and his later adventures enliven the end chapters.
I don’t want to give too much away about the story, so I will cease from my description. I hope I have whetted the appetites of potential readers to take a chance on buying my book. I hope all the readers enjoy it. I can guarantee one thing. They won’t find another book like it.

The Second Crack, a literary mystery by Chelo Diaz-Ludden

As Anne’s drinks from a Japanese tea cup, its crack filled in with gold, a Japanese tradition that honors past wounds, she thinks that “if people were repaired the same way; foreheads etched with brass hairline fractures, chips of silver embedded along fingers, bolts of gold shot through hearts, then we would know the places to be careful with." And these are the places she will be forced to go.
Anne's twin sister, Suz, is the family idealist and saint who ran off to South Africa to help the poor, Anne is the pragmatic twin who started a coffee house in Portland, Oregon. When Suz comes home for Christmas and disappears, Anne resorts to tactics such as ‘syncing’ to her twin like they did as children, and reading through Suz’s journal, which reveals not only the lives of a township family but secrets her sister has kept from her. Anne's desperate search turns her world upside down and inside out, along with the labels of 'saint' and 'sinner'.

A fast-paced literary mystery that will take you from Portland to Johannesburg to Mexico while it exposes the reader to both the light and darkness burning within human nature.

Little Wolf - A dark erotic romance by Amélie S. Duncan

A dark erotic romance with suspense that will keep you guessing all the way to the end.  Sexy Alpha  hero and a strong willed heroine collide in this dynamic debut.

When twenty-three year old Tala Velsik appears in a last minute performance art piece, she has no idea that public nudity will be the least of her worries. Wearing nothing but silver paint and a pair of antlers, her body is bared to hundreds of eyes, but one penetrating stare simmers through the others, Adrian Caro.

Adrian Caro is one of the world’s most famous directors and photographers, but with striking features and a body made for sin, most would guess he belonged in front of the camera.

Of course, the last thing Tala needs is romance, even with a walking Adonis. Mounting bills, a dead end job and a set of childhood memories most therapists would pale at; love is low on her list. Assuming, of course, her new admirer allows her to have a say in the matter.

Shocked yet thrilled by Adrian’s passionate domination, Tala can’t help but feel she’s standing on quicksand. For all his wealth, fame and talent, Adrian is tormented by his own demons; hiding secrets big enough to destroy them both.

Fashionably Dead by Robyn Peterman

Vampyres don’t exist. They absolutely do not exist.

At least I didn’t think they did ‘til I tried to quit smoking and ended up Undead. Who in the hell did I screw over in a former life that my getting healthy equates with dead?

Now I’m a Vampyre. Yes, we exist whether we want to or not. However, I have to admit, the perks aren’t bad. My girls no longer jiggle, my ass is higher than a kite and the latest Prada keeps finding its way to my wardrobe. On the downside, I’m stuck with an obscenely profane Guardian Angel who looks like Oprah and a Fairy Fighting Coach who’s teaching me to annihilate like the Terminator.

To complicate matters, my libido has increased to Vampyric proportions and my attraction to a hotter than Satan’s underpants killer rogue Vampyre is not only dangerous . . . it’s possibly deadly. For real dead. Permanent death isn’t on my agenda. Avoiding him is my only option. Of course, since he thinks I’m his, it’s easier said than done. Like THAT’S not enough to deal with, all the other Vampyres think I’m some sort of Chosen One.

Holy Hell, if I’m in charge of saving an entire race of blood suckers, the Undead are in for one hell of a ride.

Twisted Linen - A prophetic thriller of deception, deceit and faith by C.W. Cook

Free Kindle Countdown: Dec 19-21st

I wrote ‘Twisted Linen’ to warn of the coming great deception that we’ll all soon face.  It’s fast-paced conspiracy thriller drawn from modern-day current events, human genetic engineering, and end-times Scripture.  Written for the busy reader, offering short chapters and concise dialog, but the story and underlying messages are sophisticated, terrifying and inspiring.

Kirkus Reviews says Twisted Linen offers "Plotlines with searing twists ... concise and persistent, but best of all, leaves an impact!"

There are appointed times for every event in history, and God proclaimed His warnings using astronomical signs in the heavens.  But Simon has all but given up on the Roman Catholic Church and God.  All he cares about is finding refuge for the angel that brought true and lasting peace into his life, Grace, his alluring wife.

Simon and Grace’s bug-out plans are interrupted when a top raking Cardinal summons Simon to the Papal Office and discloses a diabolical threat against the civilized world.  A modern-day cult called the Golden Dawn plans to use the latest in genetic science to usher in a Final World Order, and Cardinal Genovi demands Simon's help this one last time.  But there are deep fractures in the Church, unexpected betrayals, and dark secrets concealed in Grace's past that hold dire consequences.

From the majestic city of Rome to the picturesque city of San Sebastian, Spain, Simon and Grace race against time to expose the conspiracy behind the cult's insidious agenda.  The situation turns deadly when a kidnapping ensnares Simon and Grace in a net of deception, deceit and divided loyalty. And where it all leads . . .a dark nightmare into the underbelly of the occult with demonic consequences not revealed until the very end.

"Mine For Tonight" is book one of "The Billionaire's Obsession" . Books in this trilogy do not stand alone and need to be read in order. They include:

Mine For Tonight - Book 1 "The Billionaire's Obsession"
Mine For Now - Book 2 "The Billionaire's Obsession"
Mine Forever - Book 3 "The Billionaire's Obsession"
and Mine Completely - a Valentine's Day romance featuring Simon and Kara

This is a steamy romance and is not intended for YA readers. It contains steamy love scenes, explicit language and adult emotion not appropriate for YA readers.

Murder is a Drag - a mystery by JLRenRaw

The time of year is late November and unfortunately the south coast of England is experiencing an unusually cold snap. Constable Coombs, from the local constabulary, is doing a perfunctory check along the mile long South Beach promenade. Tonight the promenade has been abandoned by the normally hardy holiday makers who come to see the Christmas lighting. Coombs does not blame them as the lighting just looks gaudy in the wintry gloom. Grateful that nothing is amiss she quickly returns to the station.

Sergeant Dobbs is manning the front desk of this cash strapped police station. The only other officer on duty is Detective Constable Chaste and he is making the tea. When the desk telephone rings again for the umpteenth time, Dobbs, feeling tired, hesitates before lifting the receiver.

“I am Maurice, owner of the ‘Maurice welcomes you’ club. I am telephoning to report a murder.” The voice simple said.

When Detective Chief Inspector Slade is summoned to the murder scene it becomes crystal clear to him that this case cannot be dealt with in normal circumstances. For starters there are possibly 60, 80, maybe one hundred witnesses and any one of them could be the murderer.

Touching the Wire - a thriller by Rebecca Bryn

I was blown away when I received my first two Amazon reviews for my thriller, Touching the Wire. It was a story I felt compelled to write because, if the horror and pain of the holocaust can be seen in the eyes of one man, then I have the privilege of having known that man, and this story is dedicated to his memory.

Touching the Wire is the story of all the men, women and children incarcerated in Nazi death camps: a story of courage and cowardice, love, loss and betrayal - tale of love against impossible odds. The review, 'outstanding story-telling', suggests I may have gone some way in doing their courage justice.
Part One: A young doctor and nurse battle to save lives in a Nazi death camp: as their relationship blossoms they join the camp resistance, risking torture and execution daily. Liberation plunges them from one hell into another as they are separated. They make a desperate promise: the doctor steals damning documents, and struggles to fight his way back to the woman he loves.
Seventy years later, the doctor's granddaughter, intrigued by an enigmatic carving and determined to discover the reasons for her grandfather's nightmares, uncovers the horrors of his past and vows to keep his unkept promise.

Outstanding storyteller.
This is without doubt one of the best fictional tales of this type I've read. One of the main characters is brought to the reader in the modern day, complete with the nightmares of his past experiences in war-torn Germany. His demons are not confined to the night, so the narrative opens his mental
sores to expose a myriad of deep secrets... The first half of the story takes us back and forward from present day to the horror... The second part of the story is played out as a mystery/suspense which unfolds like the petals of a rose, one layer after another to a blossoming end...
Many scenes are of a graphic nature, so be prepared to be shocked. The imagery, like the dialogue is done extremely well. I congratulate Rebecca on not only her writing and storytelling prowess, but also her outstanding research.

Vardin Village - General Fiction by Maggie Spence

George Vardin and his friends are typical teenagers in a small, affluent town. They seek the same goals; to make the varsity team, date a pretty girl, hang with the guys, goof around ‘til college. But George can only pretend. He doesn’t have the money or the time to play football, no pretty girl will ever date him, and his friends have no idea he’s one step away from being homeless. George hides the anxiety and the hopeless reality as he waits for his world to crash along with the leaky roof over his dilapidated house. The mind-blowing irony is that his hometown was founded by his great, great, great, great grandfather, the first George Vardin, who built the miserable cottage that’s about to implode that sits in the shadow of the magnificent mansion that the people of Vardin Village consider the crown jewel of the community. The Vardin family used to be rolling in money but George’s grandfather gave the family fortune to the village and George got nothing thanks to his alky parents.

Uncle Morris shows up with a crazy idea. The crown jewel just sits there empty all day. Why let a good mansion go to waste? Would anyone really know if George were to live in his ancestral home, just until he finishes high school? With a little help from some of the old-timers in Vardin Village, the plan works beautifully until a corrupt councilman and his bully son embark on a campaign to rid the village of its namesake son and keep the riches to themselves.

Anna's Bear - 5 Days of Moral Conflict and Pursuit, Nazi Germany, 1939 - a Historical Novel by O.W. Shumaker

Nazi Germany was different in so many ways from any other society of its time in the western hemisphere. Aside from the plot of Anna’s Bear, all of the historical events, objects, programs, people groups, and ceremonies depicted in Anna’s Bear really happened – even the most bizarre. The Lebensborn system in Nazi Germany functioned, in part, exactly as described in Anna’s Bear. The Hitler Youth, usually depicted as very violent, consisted more of para-military training, and once even participated in a convention with the American Boy Scouts. And, unfortunately, the T4 program was in place as described – right down to the flower on the windowsill…
